William Girdler
William Girdler (October 22, 1947 – January 21, 1978) was an American filmmaker. In a span of six years, from 1972 to 1978, he directed nine feature films in such genres as horror and action. Girdler also wrote and produced three of his features, ''Abby (film), Abby'', ''Sheba, Baby'' and ''The Manitou''. Career Girdler, born in Louisville, Kentucky, started Studio One Productions in his early 20s and directed his first feature, a low-budget film entitled ''Asylum of Satan'' which was briefly released to theaters. Girdler's second effort was a slasher thriller entitled ''Three on a Meathook''. Both ''Asylum of Satan'' and ''Three on a Meathook'' were filmed in his hometown, and although both films received little notice, they got the attention of Samuel Z. Ryan Girdler
Ryan Girdler (born 19 September 1972) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. A New South Wales State of Origin and Australia international representative goal-kicking centre, he played his club football for the Illawarra Steelers and the Penrith Panthers, winning the 2003 NRL Premiership with the Panthers. Nick Girdler is a freelance radio broadcaster who worked for BBC Radio Solent from 1972 until 2006 and again from 2009 until 2019. Following a short-lived retirement from 2006, on 3 June 2009, Radio Solent announced that he would be returning to the station on 14 June 2009, to host a Sunday morning (9am to noon) programme. Girdler presented his last programme on 24 February 2019 having purportedly been given just 10 days’ notice of termination of employment, as a result of changes to the Sunday morning line-up. George Girdler Smith (September 8, 1795 – December 18, 1878) was an engraver in Boston. He kept a studio on Washington Street. Collaborators included William B. Annin ( Annin & Smith), Charles A. Knight and George H. Tappan (Smith, Knight & Tappan). Smith was born in Danvers, Massachusetts. He belonged to several civic and social groups in Boston, including the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association, Boston Light Infantry, and the Freemasons. The Girdler sulfide (GS) process, also known as the GeibSpevack (GS) process, is an industrial production method for filtering out of natural water the heavy water (deuterium oxide = D2O) which is used in particle research, in deuterium NMR spectroscopy, deuterated solvents for proton NMR spectroscopy, in heavy water nuclear reactors (as a coolant and moderator) and in deuterated drugs. Karl-Hermann Geib and Jerome S. Spevack independently, and in parallel, invented the process in 1943 and its name derives from the Girdler company, which built the first American plant using the process. The method is an isotopic exchange process between H2S and H2O ("light" water), that produces heavy water over several steps. It is a highly energy intensive process. Collins Creek, also known as Collins Fork, is a tributary of Goose Creek in Clay County in the U.S. state of Kentucky.
