Midfielder
A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. As central midfielders often go across boundaries, with mobility and passing ability, they are often referred to as deep-lying midfielders, play-makers, box-to-box midfielders, or holding midfielders. There are also attacking midfielders with limited defensive assignments. The size of midfield units on a team and their assigned roles depend on what formation is used; the unit of these players on the pitch is commonly referred to as the midfield. Essendon Football Club
The Essendon Football Club, nicknamed the Bombers, is a professional Australian rules football club. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the game's premier competition. The club was formed by the McCracken family in their Ascot Vale, Victoria, Ascot Vale home "Alisa", and while the exact date is unknown, it is generally accepted to have been in 1872. The club’s first recorded game took place on 7 June 1873 against a Carlton Second 20. From 1878 until 1896, the club played in the Victorian Football Association then joined seven other clubs in October 1896 to form the breakaway Victorian Football League (later changed to AFL in 1990). Australian Rules Footballer
Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Irving Mosquito
Irving Mosquito (born 24 August 2000) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted by the Essendon Football Club with the 38th pick in the 2018 national draft. Early football Mosquito played for the Gippsland Power in the NAB League for two seasons. Mosquito was selected to play for Vic Country in the AFL Under 18 Championships, but was unable to get a game due to injury. He was a member of the Hawthorn's Next Generation Academy program, which gave the Hawks the right to match any draft selection made by other clubs during the 2018 AFL draft. Craig Huffer
Craig David Huffer (born 27 October 1989) is an Australian sub-4 minute miler, who ran for Adams State College. Before signing with Adams State, Huffer won National All Schools titles over the 800 metres and represented Australia at the World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. In 2008 as an 18-year-old Huffer won the Leonara Golden Gift, the richest mile race in Australia. In 2009 as a 19-year-old Huffer placed 3rd at the 2009 Australian Athletics Championships in Brisbane, and recorded 3:39.98 at the Sydney Track Classic to rank the fourth fastest Australian junior at the time over the 1500 metres. In 2010 he became the 47th ever Australian to run a sub-4 mile in Nashville, USA, and went on to run a 1500 metres personal best of 3:36.35 at the Reunion Internacional Ciudad de Barcelona, to rank 16th on the all-time Australian senior list. The Open University (OU) is a British public research university and the largest university in the United Kingdom by number of students. The Hawthorn Football Club, nicknamed the Hawks, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Mulgrave, Victoria, that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). Xavier John Ellis (born 28 February 1988) is a media personality and former professional Australian rules football player who played with the Hawthorn Football Club and West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League. Over 125 senior matches, and two AFL Clubs, Xavier played in three grand finals (2008, 2012 and 2015), winning in 2008 AFL career Ellis was drafted by the Hawthorn Football Club with their first selection and third overall in the 2005 national draft. James Bruce Tomkins, (born 19 August 1965) is an Australian rower, seven-time World Champion and a three-time Olympic gold medalist. Human Genome Project
The Human Genome Project (HGP) was an international scientific research project with the goal of determining the base pairs that make up human DNA, and of identifying, mapping and sequencing all of the genes of the human genome from both a physical and a functional standpoint. It started in 1990 and was completed in 2003. It remains the world's largest collaborative biological project. Planning started after the idea was picked up in 1984 by the US government, the project formally launched in 1990, and was declared essentially complete on April 14, 2003, but included only about 85% of the genome. Level "complete genome" was achieved in May 2021, with a remaining only 0.3% bases covered by potential issues. The final gapless assembly was finished in January 2022.
