Giovanni Antonio Volpi
Giovanni Antonio Volpi (1686–1717) was an Italian editor, publisher and poet. He was born in Padua. In 1717, along with his brother Gaetano and the engraver Giuseppe Comino, they founded a publishing house and book shop under the name of ''Libreria Cominiana'' or ''Volpi-Comminiana''. The print specialized in high quality classics. Volpi studied philosophy and rhetoric and became a professor emeritus at the University of Padua. Padua
Padua ( ; it, Padova ; vec, Pàdova) is a city and ''comune'' in Veneto, northern Italy. Padua is on the river Bacchiglione, west of Venice. It is the capital of the province of Padua. It is also the economic and communications hub of the area. Padua's population is 214,000 (). The city is sometimes included, with Venice (Italian ''Venezia'') and Treviso, in the Padua-Treviso-Venice Metropolitan Area (PATREVE) which has a population of around 2,600,000. Padua stands on the Bacchiglione, Bacchiglione River, west of Venice and southeast of Vicenza. The Brenta River, which once ran through the city, still touches the northern districts. The University of Padua ( it, Università degli Studi di Padova, UNIPD) is an Italian university located in the city of Padua, region of Veneto, northern Italy. The University of Padua was founded in 1222 by a group of students and teachers from Bologna. Padua is the second-oldest university in Italy and the world's fifth-oldest surviving university.
