Giorgio Contini (born 4 January 1974) is a former Swiss football manager and former player who currently managed Swiss Super League club Grasshopper Club Zürich. Playing career Teams He played at various clubs in Switzerland, such as FC Winterthur, FC St. Gallen, FC Luzern and FC Lausanne-Sport. His greatest success was the Swiss championships with FC St. Gallen in 1999/2000. In summer 2005, he ended his footballing career. National Contini played his only international match for Switzerland in a friendly match against Poland, on 28 February 2001. Coaching career After retiring as soccer player, Contini started his coaching career at FC Oberwinterthur, who played in the 2. Liga Interregional, in 2005. The 2019–20 Swiss Challenge League (referred to as the Brack.ch Challenge League for sponsoring reasons) was the 17th season of the Swiss Challenge League, the second tier of competitive football in Switzerland, under its current name. The season started on 20 July 2019 and was scheduled to end on 20 May 2020. The league was on winter break between 15 December 2019 and 24 January 2020. On 28 February Swiss Football League postponed all Super and Challenge League matches of matchdays 24, 25 and 26. Postponement came after the Swiss Federal Council banned all major events until 15 March due to the COVID-19 outbreak. On 13 March Super and Challenge League football was halted at least until the end of April. The league eventually resumed on 19 June. The last regular games were played on 2 August 2020. The Liechtenstein Football Cup is Liechtenstein's premier football competition, and has been organised annually by the Liechtenstein Football Association (LFV) since 1946. The winner qualifies to take part in the UEFA Europa Conference League. As there is no national league in Liechtenstein, the Liechtenstein Football Cup is the only national football competition in the country. The country has only seven clubs, all of which historically have already established themselves in the Swiss league competitions.
