Giordan Watson (born 24 October 1985) is an American-Romanian professional basketball player for CS Universitatea Cluj-Napoca (men's basketball), Cluj of the Romanian Liga Națională (men's basketball), Liga Națională. Standing at 178 cm (5 ft 10 in), Watson primarily plays as point guard. A naturalized Romanian, he also plays for the Romanian national basketball team. Professional career Watson spent the 2011–2012 season with Úrvalsdeild karla (basketball), Úrvalsdeild karla club Grindavík men's basketball, Grindavík, helping them win the Icelandic Men's Basketball Supercup, Icelandic Supercup, the Icelandic Men's Basketball Company Cup, Icelandic Company Cup, and the Icelandic championship. CS Universitatea Cluj-Napoca is a Romanian professional basketball club based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The club, for sponsorship reason under the name U-Banca Transilvania Cluj-Napoca, competes in the Liga Națională. As other sports teams that were initially part of the parent sports club, U Cluj, for historical reasons, the club keeps the name U (short form of Universitatea) in its name. History Whilst the parent sports club, U Cluj was founded in 1919, the basketball team was founded in 1947 and played for the first time in the Romanian Championship in 1966. EuroBasket 2017
EuroBasket 2017 was the 40th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe and held between 31 August and 17 September 2017. Beginning from 2017, the continental championships take place every four years with a similar system of qualification as for the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Like the previous edition, the tournament was co-hosted by four countries. Games in the group stage were held in Turkey, Finland, Israel and Romania. The knock-out phase was played in Istanbul, Turkey. Slovenia won their first-ever tournament after defeating Serbia 93–85 in the final. Romanian National Basketball Team
The Romania men's national basketball team ( ro, Echipa națională de baschet a României) represents Romania in international basketball competition. The team is administered by the Romanian Basketball Federation (FRB). Romania has qualified for the EuroBasket 18 times throughout their history. The Icelandic Men's Basketball Company Cup, commonly known as the Men's Company Cup (Icelandic: Fyrirtækjabikar karla), was an annual basketball competition between clubs in Iceland that was organized by the Icelandic Basketball Federation.
