Gioia E Rivoluzione
''Gioia e Rivoluzione'' is the third compilation of the Jazz fusion band Area and was released in 1996. This album concentrates exclusively on the albums released on the Cramps label. Just like the first compilation " Anto/Logicamente", this album contains "Citazione da George L. Jackson", the non-LP b-side of "L'internazionale". "L'Internazionale" appears as well, but instead of the studio version released on the single (which has only re-appeared on the other compilation " Area '70" so far), it's the live version contained on the "Are(a)zione" album. The studio version, as of 2014, is not available on CD. Track listing # Luglio, Agosto, Settembre (nero) (1973) - 4:29 # Arbeit Macht Frei (1973) - 8:01 # L'Abbattimento dello Zeppelin - 6:55 # Cometa Rossa (1974) - 3:58 # Lobotomia (1974) - 4:01 # L'Elefante Bianco (1975) - 4:36 # La Mela di Odessa (1920) (1975) - 6:46 # Gioia e Rivoluzione (1975) - 4:39 # L'Internazionale (1974) - 4:02 # Evaporazione (1976) - 1:56 # Il Massacro d ...

Area (band)
Area – International POPular Group, most commonly known as Area or AreA, is an Italian progressive rock, jazz fusion, electronic, experimental group formed in 1972 by singer Demetrio Stratos and drummer Giulio Capiozzo. They are considered one of the most respected, innovative and important bands of the blooming 1970s Italian progressive rock scene. History Demetrio Stratos' years: 1972–1979 Area were formed in Milan in 1972. They were originally composed of Demetrio Stratos (vocals), Giulio Capiozzo (drums and percussion), Victor Edouard "Eddie" Busnello (saxophone and flutes), Leandro Gaetano (piano), and Johnny Lambizzi (guitar), soon followed by Patrick Djivas (bass) and Patrizio Fariselli (keyboards). The band was led by Stratos, who was originally from Egypt, having been born in Alexandria to Greek parents. In 1973, Lambizzi left the band and was replaced by Paolo Tofani (guitar and synthesizer). That year, they recorded their first studio album ''Arbeit macht fre ...

Jazz Fusion
Jazz fusion (also known as fusion and progressive jazz) is a music genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined jazz harmony and jazz improvisation, improvisation with rock music, funk, and rhythm and blues. Electric guitars, amplifiers, and keyboards that were popular in rock and roll started to be used by jazz musicians, particularly those who had grown up listening to rock and roll. Jazz fusion arrangements vary in complexity. Some employ groove-based vamps fixed to a single key or a single chord with a simple, repeated melody. Others use elaborate chord progressions, unconventional time signatures, or melodies with counter-melodies. These arrangements, whether simple or complex, typically include improvised sections that can vary in length, much like in other forms of jazz. As with jazz, jazz fusion can employ brass and woodwind instruments such as trumpet and saxophone, but other instruments often substitute for these. A jazz fusion band is less likely to ...

Italian Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog; sometimes conflated with art rock) is a broad genre of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom and United States through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early 1970s. Initially termed "progressive pop", the style was an outgrowth of psychedelic bands who abandoned standard pop traditions in favour of instrumentation and compositional techniques more frequently associated with jazz, folk, or classical music. Additional elements contributed to its " progressive" label: lyrics were more poetic, technology was harnessed for new sounds, music approached the condition of "art", and the studio, rather than the stage, became the focus of musical activity, which often involved creating music for listening rather than dancing. Progressive rock is based on fusions of styles, approaches and genres, involving a continuous move between formalism and eclecticism. Due to its historical reception, the scope of progressive ...

Parigi-Lisbona
''Parigi-Lisbona'' is a live album by Italian jazz fusion band Area, released in 1996 and recorded in 1976 in Paris and Lisbon, while the band was supporting their third album ''Crac!''. In the Paris section of the album, Demetrio Stratos announces the songs in French and sings "La Mela di Odessa" as "La Pomme de Odessa". Just like the other phostmous release " Concerto Teatro Uomo", "Parigi-Lisbona" received criticism due to the sound quality of the recordings, and because some tracks contain edits. This album in 2002 was repackaged with other phostomous live album ''Concerto Teatro Uomo'' on the boxset ''Live Concerts Box''. This second version contains two bonus tracks (not taken from either concert). Track listing # "L'Elefante Bianco" – 5:23 # "Megalopoli" – 8:09 # "La Mela di Odessa" – 8:59 # "Lobotomia" – 4:13 # "Presentation Concerts Lisboa" – 3:27 # "Arbeit Macht Frei" – 8:28 # "Cometa Rossa" - 7:17 # "Luglio, Agosto, Settembre (Nero)" – 6:52 # "L'Intern ...

Chernobyl 7991
''Chernobyl 7991'' is the eighth album of the Jazz fusion band Area and was released in 1997. This is the first album in 17 years, and Area had been in hiatus from 1983 to 1993. They first reunited as a trio consisting of Fariselli, Capiozzo and Tavolazzi. Tavolazzi, after the first shows, left the band in order to pursue other projects. Much like the previous studio album " Tic&Tac" from 17 years earlier, this album is much more of a jazz/fusion product than Area's classic sound. This is the only album with bass player Paolo dalla Porta, who replaced Tavolazzi. The album is completely instrumental, apart for some vocalizations on "Fall Down". "Sedimentazioni" consists of approximately five minutes of silence and one minute and half containing excerpts from every track Area recorded in their career overlying in top of the other. "Efstratios" is dedicated to past member and singer Demetrio Stratos who died in 1979, whose real name was, in fact, Efstratios. This is, to date, the la ...

Anto/Logicamente
''Anto/Logicamente'' is the first compilation of the Jazz fusion band Area and was released in 1977. As the title suggests, the track selection focuses more on the tracks that were "hidden, ignored by the critics and many others", as told on the booklet. "Anto/Logicamente" is a play on words based on "antologia" (''compilation'', in this case), "anto" (''not'') and "logicamente" (''with sense''). Noticeably, this album contains "Citazione da George L. Jackson", the b-side of "L'internazionale". Unlike the other compilation " Area '70", this one was reprinted on CD by Artis (CRSCD 006) in 1994 and Edel (CRA 0142032) in 2002. Track listing Side one # "L'abbattimento dello Zeppelin" (1973) (Patrizio Fariselli) – 6:52 # "Arbeit Macht Frei" (1973) (Fariselli) – 7:56 # "ZYG (Crescita zero)" (1974) – 5:27 Side two # "Citazione da George L. Jackson" (1974) – 3:14 # "Nervi Scoperti" (1975) (Fariselli, Ares Tavolazzi, Tofani) – 6:35 # "Area 5" (1975) – 2:09 # "Gerontocrazia" ...

Area '70
''Area '70'' is the second compilation of the jazz fusion band Area and was released in 1980. Unlike the other compilation "Anto/Logicamente", this one was never reprinted on CD. It's noticeable for featuring the studio version of "L'Internazionale" which was only released as a single (and never on CD). Track listing Side one # "Luglio, Agosto, Settembre (nero)" (1973) – 4:27 # "Cometa rossa" (1974) – 4:00 # "Gioia e Rivoluzione" (1975) – 4:40 # "L'elefante Bianco" (1975) – 4:33 # "L'Internazionale" (1974) – 3:04 Side two # "La Mela di Odessa (1920)" (1975) – 6:27 # "Gerontocrazia" (1976) – 7:30 # "SCUM" (1976) – 6:30 Personnel *Giulio Capiozzo - drums, percussion *Patrizio Fariselli - electric piano, piano, clarinet, synthesizer *Demetrio Stratos Efstratios Dimitriou ( el, Ευστράτιος Δημητρίου; 22 April 1945 – 13 June 1979), known professionally as Demetrio Stratos, was a Greek lyricist, multi-instrumentalist, music researcher, and co ...

Are(a)zione
''Are(A)zione'' is the fourth album of the Jazz fusion band Area. It is Area's first live album. It was recorded during their 1975 Italian tour, with dates in Milan, Naples, Rimini and Reggio Emilia, and released later the same year. The first of the album concentrates on live versions of some of the band's classics, the flip side features the title-track and a lengthy instrumental which introduces the drum pattern of the song "Giro, Giro, Tondo" (later to be included in the band's following studio album Maledetti (Maudits)), and closes with the Socialist anthem "L'internazionale" as covered by the band in a 1974 single. The track timings listed on the back cover are slightly incorrect. The actual running time for each track is reported below. Track listing All tracks by Patrizio Fariselli, Ares Tavolazzi & Giampaolo Tofani Side one # "Luglio, Agosto, Settembre (nero)" – 5:41 # "La Mela di Odessa" – 11:05 # "Cometa Rossa" – 6:00 Side two # "Are(A)zione" – 15:0 ...

Ares Tavolazzi
Ares Tavolazzi (born July 1948) is an Italian bass player and jazz musician born in Ferrara. Biography Tavolazzi studied cello and double bass in the Music School of Ferrara and began his career as bassist playing for Carmen Villani in a beat group, with his future collaborator, drummer Ellade Bandini. With the latter and Vince Tempera, he founded in 1969 a band called The Pleasure Machine, which released five singles in the three following years. The trio also participated in Francesco Guccini's '' L'isola non trovata'' and in '' Terra in bocca'' of I Giganti. In 1973, after The Pleasure Machine had disbanded, he became a member of the avantgarde band Area, replacing Patrick Djivas. He also frequented the jazz world in New York City. Area (band) Albums
Area is the measure of a region's size on a surface. The area of a plane region or ''plane area'' refers to the area of a shape or planar lamina, while ''surface area'' refers to the area of an open surface or the boundary of a three-dimensional object. Area can be understood as the amount of material with a given thickness that would be necessary to fashion a model of the shape, or the amount of paint necessary to cover the surface with a single coat. It is the two-dimensional analogue of the length of a curve (a one-dimensional concept) or the volume of a solid (a three-dimensional concept). Two different regions may have the same area (as in squaring the circle); by synecdoche, "area" sometimes is used to refer to the region, as in a " polygonal area". The area of a shape can be measured by comparing the shape to squares of a fixed size. In the International System of Units (SI), the standard unit of area is the square metre (written as m2), which is the area of a square whos ...
