Gino Rigitano
Gino Rigitano (born 14 August 1957) is a Canadian former professional snooker player. Career Rigitano was accepted as a professional by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) in 1983. In the 1983–84 snooker season he defeated Marcel Gauvreau 9–6 in the first round of the 1983 Canadian Professional Championship, before losing 4–9 to Bernie Mikkelsen. In his four-player pre-qualifying group for the 1984 International Masters he progressed, recording 2–0 wins against both Dennis Hughes and Paul Medati, and 2–1 against Bill Oliver. In the next group round he played Jimmy White and Frank Jonik, with White winning the group and qualifying for the main event. At the 1984 World Snooker Championship, Rigitano was eliminated in the first round, 7–10 by Matt Gibson. 1985 World Snooker Championship
The 1985 World Snooker Championship (also known as the 1985 Embassy World Snooker Championship for the purpose of sponsorship) was a ranking professional snooker tournament that took place from 12 to 28 April 1985 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England. Organised by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA), the event was the ninth consecutive World Snooker Championship to be held at the Crucible, the first tournament having taken place in 1977. A five-round qualifying event for the championship was held at the Preston Guild Hall from 29 March to 5 April for 87 players, 16 of whom reached the main stage, where they met the 16 invited seeded players. Snooker World Rankings
The snooker world rankings are the official system of ranking professional snooker players to determine automatic qualification and seeding for tournaments on the World Snooker Tour. The ranking lists are maintained by the sport's governing body, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. Each player's world ranking is based on their performances in designated ranking tournaments over the preceding two years. The world ranking list is updated after every ranking tournament. The system of world rankings was inaugurated in the 1976–77 season. The World Snooker Championship is the longest-running and most prestigious tournament in professional snooker. It is also the wealthiest, with total prize money in 2022 of £2,395,000, including £500,000 for the winner. Neal Foulds
Neal Foulds (born 13 July 1963) is an English former professional snooker player and six-time tournament winner, including the 1986 International Open, the 1988 Dubai Masters and the 1992 Scottish Masters, as well as the invitational Pot Black in 1992. He was the runner up for the UK Championships in 1986, the British Open in 1987 and reached the semi finals of the Masters on three occasions, as well as the World Championship. After his retirement, Foulds became a commentator for the BBC and is currently part of the presenting team for ITV and Eurosport. Career The son of snooker professional Geoff Foulds, he began playing the game at the age of 11 and by the early 1980s was already one of the strongest players in his area. Bob Harris (born 12 March 1956) is an English former professional snooker player. Career Harris was expelled from school at the age of 15, and started playing snooker matches for money. In 1981, He made a championship record of 123 on his way to reaching the southern area final of the English Amateur Championship, finishing as runner-up after being defeated 9–13 by Vic Harris. Dessie Sheehan (born 3 September 1949 in Limerick) is an Irish former professional snooker player. Career Born in 1949, Sheehan turned professional in 1981. His first match was a 5–1 victory over Vic Harris in the International Open, but he lost all of his other matches during the 1981/1982 season, finishing it with a 5–9 defeat to Dean Reynolds in qualifying for the 1982 World Championship. The next several seasons came without any success, although Sheehan reached the last 64 at the 1983 Professional Players' Tournament, where Rex Williams beat him 5–1. In the 1985 UK Championship, he defeated Paul Watchorn 9–7 and George Scott 9–6 and was drawn against Steve Davis in the last 64.
