''Coronation Street'' is a British soap opera, initially produced by Granada Television. Created by writer Tony Warren, ''Coronation Street'' first broadcast on ITV on 9 December 1960. The following is a list of characters introduced in the show's twenty-ninth year, by order of first appearance. Harry Ashton Harry Ashton was an OAP who enquired about a vacancy for a paperboy at The Kabin in January 1988. Rita and Mavis tried to politely refuse but he had an answers for all of their concerns - he got up early every day to walk his loyal dog Jimmy, and he was obsessed with keeping fit. To prove he could manage the early hours, he volunteered for a trial run. ''Coronation Street'' is an English soap opera created by Granada Television and shown on ITV since 9 December 1960. The programme centres around a cobbled, terraced street in Weatherfield, a fictional town based on inner-city Salford. Originally broadcast twice weekly, the series began airing six times a week in 2017. The programme was conceived by scriptwriter Tony Warren. Julie Foy
Julie Foy (born 5 May 1971) is an English actress and producer, best known for ''The Silent Child'' which received critical acclaim and won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. Julie Foy attended Canon Slade School in Bolton then trained at the College of the Performing Arts in Salford. Whilst still at school she made her television debut in Jossy's ''Giants'' before going on to appear in Press Gang and on stage in Our Day Out. She appeared in the Granada Television series How To Be Cool and made appearances in Dramarama and Forever Young. In 1988 she played Sally Seddon's sister Gina Seddon in ''Coronation Street'' for a year before taking the role of a nurse in the 1989 movie ''Strapless''. Rosie Webster is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street''. She was born on-screen during the episode broadcast on 24 December 1990. She was played by Emma Collinge from 1990 until 27 December 1999. Helen Flanagan took over the role on 23 January 2000. Flanagan took a three-month break in the summer of 2011 and returned on 26 September 2011.
