Gilmore Avenue
Gilmore Avenue is a main road and suburban distributor in Kwinana south of Perth, and runs through or alongside the suburbs of Medina, Orelia, Calista and Leda, linking them to the Kwinana Freeway via Thomas Road and also to Kwinana Hub Shopping Centre. In 1999 it was extended to Mandurah Road through the Leda Nature Reserve. It continues as Dixon Road into Rockingham. The northern section services the town of Centre of Kwinana. A $4 million project to upgrade the road to a dual carriageway, between Runnymede Gate and Mandurah Road, began in September 2014. Completion is expected in March 2015. Thomas Road
Thomas Road is a major west–east road in the far southern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, connecting Rockingham Road (part of Highway 1) in Kwinana's industrial area with Kwinana's urban area, before bridging Perth's agricultural fringe to meet the South Western Highway in Byford, just south of Armadale. Thomas Road was the terminus of the Kwinana Freeway from 1993 until 2002, and presently serves as the terminus of Tonkin Highway after its extension beyond Albany Highway in 2003. Medina is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. It lies 32 km south of central Perth. Mandurah Road is the name given to two roads in the cities of Perth and Mandurah, Western Australia, which link together at Stakehill Road, Karnup. Route description The northern part starts in the Kwinana Beach industrial area. After 2 km and reaching the City of Rockingham boundary, it becomes a semi-rural single carriageway road which runs past wetlands east of Rockingham such as Lake Cooloongup and Lake Walyungup. East Rockingham, Western Australia
East Rockingham is an industrial suburb within the Kwinana Industrial Area, part of Perth, and located within the City of Rockingham. History The suburb developed as a rural community in the 1850s when various pioneers took up land and settled in the area along Mandurah Road; however, the community declined following the opening of the port at Rockingham in 1872. The Rockingham Road Board's offices were located in East Rockingham between 1905 and 1929. The Stephenson- Hepburn Plan for Perth and Fremantle (1955) identified the strategic importance of the locality for industrial development. Kwinana Beach, Western Australia
Kwinana Beach is an outer southwestern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. It is one of the traditional industrial suburbs in the Perth metropolitan region. History Kwinana is originally a local indigenous Australian word meaning either "young woman" or "pretty maiden". The ship was wrecked on Cockburn Sound in 1922, and blown on to the beach. Orelia is a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. Orelia is one of the Kwinana suburbs named after a ship. ''Orelia'' arrived at Fremantle bringing settlers to the new Swan River Colony in October 1829. Development of the area commenced in 1952. Calista is a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. Calista is one of the Kwinana suburbs named after a ship. ''Calista'' was one of the first ships to bring settlers to the Swan River Colony. She arrived with 73 passengers on 5 August 1829 under the command of Captain S. Hawkins. Kwinana Freeway
The Kwinana Freeway is a freeway in and beyond the southern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, linking central Perth with Mandurah to the south. It is the central section of State Route 2, which continues north as Mitchell Freeway to Clarkson, and south as Forrest Highway towards Bunbury. A section between Canning and Leach highways is also part of National Route 1. Along its route are interchanges with several major roads, including Roe Highway and Mandjoogoordap Drive. The northern terminus of the Kwinana Freeway is at the Narrows Bridge, which crosses the Swan River, and the southern terminus is at Pinjarra Road, east of Mandurah.
