Gillman, South Australia
Gillman is a predominantly industrial north-western suburb of Adelaide, in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. It is located within the federal Division of Hindmarsh and the state electoral district of Port Adelaide. Railway yards Gillman had been the site of railway marshalling yards on the Dry Creek–Port Adelaide railway line. The line was constructed through the area in 1868, leading in to Port Dock railway station. Connections were created from the yard to the industrial and port sidings on the eastern side of the Port River. In 1915, a junction to the south was added called the ''Rosewater Loop'', which connected the Dry Creek line to a new alignment of the Outer Harbor railway line through a new Port Adelaide railway station and bridge over the Port River. The tracks in the area were converted from broad gauge to dual broad and standard gauge in 1982 as part of the works to convert the Adelaide to Crystal Brook railway to standard gauge. Gill-man
The Gill-man—commonly called the Creature—is the main antagonist of the 1954 in film, 1954 black-and-white science fiction film ''Creature from the Black Lagoon'' and its two sequels ''Revenge of the Creature'' (1955) and ''The Creature Walks Among Us'' (1956). In all three films, Ricou Browning portrays the Gill-man when he is swimming underwater. In the scenes when the Gill-man is walking on dry land, Ben Chapman (actor), Ben Chapman performed the Gill-man in the first film, followed by Tom Hennesy in the second, and Don Megowan in the third. The Gill-man's popularity as an iconic monster of cinema has led to numerous cameo appearances, including an episode of ''The Munsters'' (1965), the motion picture ''The Monster Squad'' (1987), a Creature from the Black Lagoon: The Musical, stage show (2009), and a reimagining in 2017's ''The Shape of Water''. Gillman Barracks is a contemporary arts cluster in Singapore that is home to international art galleries, restaurants and the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore, which are all housed in conserved colonial barracks. Gillman Barracks lies near to Alexandra Road, and the site covers Lock Road and Malan Road amid greenery.
