Gill Swerts
Gill Toby Todor Swerts (born 23 September 1982) is a Belgian former professional footballer who played as a right-back. Career Swerts was born in Brasschaat, Belgium and made his debut in professional football as part of the Excelsior squad in the 2001–02 season. He also played for Feyenoord, ADO Den Haag, Vitesse and AZ before returning to Feyenoord in January 2011. He was part of the AZ team winning the 2008–09 Eredivisie. After that, he played for SønderjyskE in Denmark, NAC Breda, and Notts County in England. In early 2016, his contract with Notts County was terminated by mutual consent due to a lack of playing time. In October 2016, Swerts joined RFC Seraing in the third-tier Belgian National Division 1. In January 2018, Swerts moved to KFC Lille in the sixth-tier Eerste Provinciale Antwerpen. Alkmaar Zaanstreek (), better known as AZ Alkmaar or simply AZ (), is a Dutch professional football club from Alkmaar and the Zaan district. The club plays in the Eredivisie, the highest professional football league in the Netherlands, and hosts home matches at the AFAS Stadion. AZ has won the Eredivisie twice, in 1980–81 and 2008–09. The Eredivisie 2008–09 is the 53rd season of Eredivisie since its establishment in 1955. PSV were the reigning champions. The season began on 29 August 2008 with a game between Vitesse Arnhem and FC Groningen and ended on 10 May 2009. A total of 18 teams take part in the league, consisting of 16 who competed in the previous season and two promoted from the Eerste Divisie. The Eredivisie (; ''"Honour Division"'' or ''"Premier Division"'') is the highest level of professional football in the Netherlands. Men's system The league system underwent restructuring which was approved by the Royal Belgian Football Association.
