Gill Holland
John Gill Holland, Jr. (born November 7, 1964) is an American film producer and co-developer of The Green Building in Louisville, Kentucky. Early life and education Born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Holland was raised in Davidson, North Carolina. Holland's father was born in Lynch, Kentucky and grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia. His mother was born in Norway. An Eagle Scout, Holland graduated from The Episcopal High School (Alexandria, VA) in 1983 and went on to be a Morehead Scholar and graduated from the University of North Carolina (B. A. 1987) ( J.D. 1991). He spent his junior year at Universite Paul Valery in Montpellier, France and one semester of law school with Pace University at University College, London, England. The Green Building (Louisville, Kentucky)
The Green Building is a building located in the East Market District (NuLu) of Louisville, Kentucky. It is Louisville's first commercial Platinum LEED certified building, and Kentucky's first Platinum LEED adaptive reuse structure. The building, designed by Los Angeles architecture firm (fer) studio, was awarded Platinum certification in 2010. Design principals, Doug Pierson and Chris Mercier, are both former senior project architects with Frank Gehry's Los Angeles office, Gehry Partners LLP. Independent Spirit Awards
The Independent Spirit Awards (abbreviated Spirit Awards and originally known as the FINDIE or Friends of Independents Awards), founded in 1984, are awards dedicated to independent filmmakers. Winners were typically presented with Poly(methyl methacrylate), acrylic glass pyramids containing suspended shoestrings representing the bare budgets of independent films. Since 2006, winners have received a metal trophy depicting a bird with its wings spread sitting atop of a pole with the shoestrings from the previous design wrapped around the pole. In 1986, the event was renamed the Independent Spirit Awards. Now called the Film Independent Spirit Awards, the show is produced by Film Independent, a not-for-profit arts organization that used to produce the LA Film Festival. The Norwegian International Film Festival ( no, Den norske filmfestivalen) is a film festival held annually in Haugesund, Norway. The festival goes back to 1973. In 1985, the Amanda award was instituted. The Amanda is awarded every year at the festival in different movie categories.
