Gill Heart Institute (University Of Kentucky)
The Linda and Jack Gill Heart Institute at the University of Kentucky is housed at the Chandler Medical Center along Rose Street. Opened in 2004, the five-level . structure houses clinics, diagnostic areas, six Cath and EP laboratories with associated support services and numerous administrative and faculty offices. It will also house, in the future, the University of Kentucky Hospital Center for Advanced Surgery that will include waiting areas, pre-operative and post-operative preparatory and recovery rooms and eight operating rooms. By floor count and height above ground level, the tallest building is the 18-floor Patterson Office Tower, consisting mostly of faculty and administrative offices. Demolition of the previous tallest buildings, the 23-storKirwan ToweranBlanding Tower parts of the former Kirwan-Blanding Residence Hall complex, began in May 2020. Even before the demolition of Blanding and Kirwan Towers, the Patterson Office Tower reached the highest altitude of any campus building because it sits on one of the highest points of the university.
