Gil Assayas
Gil Assayas (also known as GLASYS) is an Israeli composer, keyboardist, producer, and vocalist. Previously, he was the lead vocalist and keyboardist of the band missFlag. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon. Assayas released the first GLASYS EP, ''The Pressure,'' in 2016. In 2018, he released a cover of the Dark World theme from ''The Legend of Zelda''. In 2019, he funded the production of a full-length GLASYS album using Kickstarter, to be delivered mid-year. Assayas has also released numerous videos through his GLASYS YouTube channel, often focusing on improvisations or new equipment he is trying out. In 2018, Assayas toured as the keyboardist of Todd Rundgren's band Utopia after the originally-announced keyboardist, Ralph Schuckett, bowed out. missFlag is an indie pop-rock band from Jerusalem. Formed in 2005, the band's music is mostly influenced by the new wave of British music and alternative rock. The band consists of Gil Assayas (keyboards and lead vocals), Assa Bukelman (electric guitar), Shai Saadia (bass), and Assaf Kraus (drums and backing vocals). Todd Harry Rundgren (born June 22, 1948) is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, multimedia artist, sound engineer and record producer who has performed a diverse range of styles as a solo artist and as a member of the band Utopia. He is known for his sophisticated and often unorthodox music, his occasionally lavish stage shows, and his later experiments with interactive entertainment. Utopia (band)
Utopia was an American rock music, rock band formed in 1973 by Todd Rundgren. During its first three years, the group was a progressive rock band with a somewhat fluid membership known as Todd Rundgren's Utopia. Most of the members in this early incarnation also played on Rundgren's solo albums of the period up to 1975. By 1976, the group was known simply as Utopia and featured a stable quartet of Rundgren, Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell (musician), Roger Powell and Willie Wilcox, John "Willie" Wilcox. This version of the group gradually abandoned progressive rock for more straightforward rock and pop music, pop. In 1980, they had a top 40 hit with "Set Me Free". Though often thought of as a Rundgren-oriented project, all four members of Utopia wrote, sang, produced and performed on their albums; "Set Me Free", for example, was sung by Sulton. Ralph Schuckett (March 2, 1948 – April 4, 2021) was an American keyboardist, composer and songwriter known as one of the founding members of Todd Rundgren's band Utopia. He composed for film and television, including Pokémon, Sonic X, and Another World, and has done session work and played live for many acts, most notably Carole King, appearing on her '' Writer'', '' Tapestry'' and '' Music'' albums. ASCAP honored " Another World" by John Loeffler and Schuckett as one of the most performed country songs of 1988. Kasim Sulton
Kasim Sulton (born December 8, 1955) is an American bass guitarist, keyboardist and vocalist. Best known for his work with Utopia, Sulton sang lead on 1980's "Set Me Free," Utopia's only top 40 hit in the United States. As a solo artist, Sulton hit the Canadian top 40 in 1982 with "Don't Break My Heart". Sulton has been a frequent collaborator, bassist and singer on many of Todd Rundgren's projects and solo tours. Biography Sulton attended and graduated in 1973 from Susan E. Wagner High School in Staten Island, New York. He married his high school sweetheart, Laurie Rampulla, and had three children with her.
