Gikor (1934 Film)
Gikor ( hy, Գիքոր) is a 1934 Armenian melodrama film directed by Amasi Martirosyan, starring Hrachia Nersisyan, Avet Avetisyan and Hasmik. The film is based on Hovhannes Tumanyan's poem of the same name. Plot Hambo takes his son Gikor to the city to work there and gain an education. Armenfilm (russian: Арменфильм; hy, Արմենֆիլմ), also known as Hayfilm ( hy, Հայֆիլմ), is an Armenian film studio located in Yerevan. The studio was founded on 16 April 1923 as a production unit of the Soviet State Cinema Organization, with Daniel Dznuni as the first director. Armenfilm was sold by the state to private investors in 2005 with a long list of conditions to revitalize the studio's equipment and produce new content. It was renamed as CS Film Studios but failed to produce the required new feature films. In 2015, the Government of Armenia decided that the new management had failed to satisfy the conditions of the sale and moved to reclaim the studio's assets. Hrachia Nersisyan
Hrachia Nersisyan ( hy, Հրաչյա Ներսիսյան, 24 November 1895 – 6 November 1961) was a Soviet-Armenian film actor. He was honoured with title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1956. Nersisyan was born in Nicomedia, Ottoman Empire (modern-day Izmit, Turkey) and studied in Constantinople. He moved to the Soviet Union in 1923, and soon became a film actor. Nersisyan's first credit was in ''Namus'', a 1925 silent movie. Later credits include ''Pepo'' (1935), ''Zangezur'' (1938) (won Stalin Prize in 1941), ''David Bek'' (1944), '' The Song of First Love'' (1958) and '' Tjvjik'' (1961). Hrachiya Nersisyan continued acting until the end of his life. His work spanned over two dozen films, including several released posthumously.
