Anthony Giddens, Baron Giddens (born 18 January 1938) is an English sociologist who is known for his theory of structuration and his holistic view of modern societies. He is considered to be one of the most prominent modern sociologists and is the author of at least 34 books, published in at least 29 languages, issuing on average more than one book every year. In 2007, Giddens was listed as the fifth most-referenced author of books in the humanities. He has academic appointments in approximately twenty different universities throughout the world and has received numerous honorary degrees. Rhiannon Giddens (born February 21, 1977) is an American musician. She is a founding member of the country, blues and old-time music band the Carolina Chocolate Drops, where she is the lead singer, fiddle player, and banjo player. Giddens is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina. In addition to her work with the Grammy-winning Chocolate Drops, Giddens has released two solo albums: '' Tomorrow Is My Turn'' (2015) and '' Freedom Highway'' (2017). Her 2019 and 2021 albums, ''There Is No Other'' and ''They're Calling Me Home'' are collaborations with Italian multi-instrumentalist Francesco Turrisi. Giddens Ko (; born 25 August 1978) is a Taiwanese novelist and filmmaker. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Management from National Chiao Tung University and Master of Social Science from Tunghai University. He has published more than 60 books, many of which have been adapted as films. He writes under the pseudonym of "Nine Knives" (). Early life Born on 25 August 1978 in Changhua County, Taiwan, Ko grew up as the second of three sons in Changhua, where his parents own a pharmacy.
