The Gibraltar men's national field hockey team represents Gibraltar in international men's field hockey and is controlled by Gibraltar Hockey. Competitive record Gibraltar has never qualified for the Field hockey at the Summer Olympics, Summer Olympics or the Hockey World Cup, World Cup. They have however participated once in the EuroHockey Nations Championship, European championship, in 1978 where they finished 12th out of 12. Gibraltar Hockey
The Gibraltar Hockey Association (GHA) is the governing body of field hockey in Gibraltar. It was initially founded as the Civilian Hockey Association in 1948, although hockey was being played prior to this under the British military forces based in Gibraltar. A year later changed its name to the Gibraltar Hockey Association. History The Sports association, Association had been a predominantly men's hockey association up until the mid nineties when ladies hockey was introduced and a league competition was established. This Association of approximately 250 hockey players (both men and women) amongst a population of 30000 inhabitants has certainly made its mark in International Hockey. 2011 Men's EuroHockey Championship III
The 2011 Men's EuroHockey Championship III was the 4th edition of the Men's EuroHockey Championship III, the third level of the men's European field hockey championships organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was held from 23 to 30 July 2011 in Catania, Italy. The tournament also served as a qualifier for the 2013 Men's EuroHockey Championship II, with the finalists, Azerbaijan and Italy, qualifying. 2018–19 Men's Hockey Series
The 2018–19 Men's Hockey Series was the inaugural season of the Hockey Series, a field hockey championship for men's national teams. The tournament started in June 2018 and finished in June 2019. Format The Hockey Series was open to all national teams that were not playing in the Pro League. The Hockey Series took place in two rounds, the Open and the Finals. The nine highest-ranked teams in the FIH World Rankings (as of 9 June 2017) skipped the Open and advance directly to the Finals. All other national teams played in the Hockey Series Open, which featured eight regional events with up to six teams each. Fifteen teams qualified from the Hockey Series Open to the FIH Series Finals, for a total of 24 teams in the Finals. The 2016–17 Men's FIH Hockey World League was the third edition of the men's field hockey national team league series and last season of the World League. The tournament started in April 2016 in Singapore and finished in December 2017 in Bhubaneswar, India. The Semifinals of this competition will also serve as a qualifier for the 2018 Men's Hockey World Cup as the 10/11 highest placed teams apart from the host nation and the five continental champions qualify. Men's FIH Hockey World League
The Men's FIH Hockey World League was an international field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation. The league also served as a qualifier for the 2014 and 2018 Men's Hockey World Cups and the 2016 Olympic Games. Three seasons were held in 2012–13, 2014–15 and 2016-17. It was replaced by the new Men's FIH Pro League and Hockey Series in 2018-19. Format The tournament featured four rounds. For each edition the FIH decides the number of events and teams for each round. The number of Round 1 events varied in each cycle depending on the number of participating national teams. The 2019 Men's EuroHockey Championship III was the 8th edition of the men's EuroHockey Championship III, the third level of the European field hockey Championships organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was held from 28 July to 3 August 2019 in Gibraltar. The tournament also served as a qualifier for the 2021 EuroHockey Championship II, with the finalists Croatia and Switzerland qualifying. Croatia won their first EuroHockey Championship III title by defeating Switzerland 5–4 in the final. The hosts Gibraltar won the bronze medal by defeating Portugal 7–2.
