Brownstown Charter Township is a charter township in Wayne County, Michigan, Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 30,627 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. Brownstown was established in 1827, a decade prior to Michigan's Admission to the Union. Brownstown has three separate but connected segments; due to the incorporation of the cities of Flat Rock, Michigan, Flat Rock, Rockwood, Michigan, Rockwood, and Woodhaven, Michigan, Woodhaven in the early 1960s. Gibraltar is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,656 at the 2010 census. Gibraltar is a southern city of Metro Detroit and is about south of the city of Detroit. The city is bordered by the Detroit River to the east, the city of Trenton to the north, and the township of Brownstown to the south and west. History Gibraltar was first settled as early as 1811 and later platted on March 14, 1837, by trustees of the Gibralter & Flat Rock Company. The community received its first post office under the name "Gibralter" on October 2, 1837. The post office was renamed to Woodbury on December 8, 1838, but renamed back to Gibralter on May 13, 1839. Flat Rock, Michigan
Flat Rock is a city mostly in Wayne County of the U.S. state of Michigan. A very small portion of the city extends into Monroe County. At the 2010 census, the city population was 9,878. History Flat Rock began as a Wyandot settlement. It was later designated as a reservation for the Wyandot, and still functioned as such in 1830. The first European-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820.
