Giantslayer Records
Giantslayer Records was an American independent record label specializing in country music. It was established in 2004 by songwriters Rory Lee Feek and Tim Johnson in Nashville, Tennessee. Songwriters included Rory Lee Feek born in Atchison, Kansas. Feek has co-written Blake Shelton's Number One single "Some Beach", as well as Top 5 hits for Clay Walker ("The Chain of Love") and Collin Raye ("Someone You Used to Know"). He and Joey Martin founded the duo Joey + Rory in 2008. Tim Johnson, cofounder, grew up in western Oregon. He has written more than one hundred country music songs for other artists, including hits for George Strait, Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd, Diamond Rio, and Alan Jackson. Other writers added later to the list included Helen Darling, Blaine Larsen, Mandy McCauley (MixMasterMandy), Paul Sikes and Jamie Teachenor. Rory Lee Feek
Rory Lee Feek (born April 25, 1965) is an American country music singer and songwriter. In his career, he has written singles for Clay Walker, Blake Shelton, Tracy Byrd and other artists. He and his wife, Joey Feek, formed the duo Joey + Rory and was placed third on the first season of the CMT talent show ''Can You Duet''. He also established Giantslayer Records for launching of new independent artists. Personal life Rory Lee Feek was born and raised in Atchison, Kansas. Mark Nelson Chesnutt (born September 6, 1963) is an American country music singer and songwriter. Between 1990 and 1999, he had his greatest chart success recording for Universal Music Group Nashville's MCA and Decca branches, with a total of eight albums between those two labels. During this timespan, Chesnutt also charted twenty top-ten hits on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Songs charts, of which eight reached number one: "Brother Jukebox", " I'll Think of Something", " It Sure Is Monday", " Almost Goodbye", " I Just Wanted You to Know", "Gonna Get a Life", " It's a Little Too Late", and a cover of Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing". BNA Records, formerly known as BNA Entertainment, was a label group that shared ties with Arista Nashville and RCA Nashville from parent company Sony Music Nashville, which itself is a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, BNA featured country music acts on its roster. The company derived its name from the IATA and ICAO airport codes for Nashville International Airport. The label was founded by Boomer Castleman, who sold it to BMG Music in 1993. The first act signed was The Remingtons. In August 2011, Sony Nashville announced a major corporate restructuring which included the merger of Columbia Nashville into BNA. ''In My High School'' is the debut studio album by American country music artist Blaine Larsen. It was released on 1 June 2004 on the independent label, Giantslayer Records. Its lead-off single, "In My High School", also released in 2004 peaked at number 60 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs). Later in 2004, Larsen was signed to BNA Records, who re-issued the album on 25 January 2005 as ''Off to Join the World''. One new song, "That's All I've Got to Say About That", was added to the album. Also, "If Merle Would Sing My Song", which was a solo rendition on the original album, was partially re-recorded with Merle Haggard appearing as a featured artist in the track that appeared on the new album. "How Do You Get That Lonely" was issued as the second single from the ''Off to Join the World'' album. Blaine Larsen
Blaine Larsen (born February 2, 1986) is an American country music artist. He was raised in Buckley, Washington. At age fifteen, he recorded his debut album ''In My High School'' on Giantslayer Records, an independent record label. The album was re-issued in 2005 as '' Off to Join the World'' by BNA Records. Blaine's second album, '' Rockin' You Tonight'', was issued in June 2006, also on BNA. Larsen's two albums for that label have produced five chart singles on the Hot Country Songs charts, of which the highest-peaking was "How Do You Get That Lonely" at number 18. Helen Darling (born May 1, 1965 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana) is an American country music artist. Darling has released one studio album on Decca Nashville. She also charted one single on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart; "Jenny Come Back," peaked at No. 69 in 1995. Darling sang background vocals on Garth Brooks' 1994 single " The Red Strokes." Brooks returned the favor by singing background on Darling's album. Diamond Rio is an American country music band. The band was founded in 1982 as an attraction for the Opryland USA theme park in Nashville, Tennessee, and was originally known as the Grizzly River Boys, then the Tennessee River Boys.
