Gianroberto Casaleggio
Gianroberto Casaleggio (; 14 August 1954 – 12 April 2016) was an Italian entrepreneur and political activist, born in Milan. He was co-founder and chairman of Casaleggio Associati srl, an internet and publishing company that advises on network strategies. He was editor of Beppe Grillo's blog, and together they founded the Five Star Movement, of which Casaleggio was sometimes called the "guru". In the Italian context, Casaleggio promoted the Web as a medium for political communication. Biography Casaleggio began his career working at Olivetti, then, in the late 1990s, became CEO at Webegg, an internet consulting company. Webegg suffered heavy losses (over €20 million) in the period 2002–2003, and Casaleggio was replaced as CEO in 2003 by Giuseppe Longo. Five Star Movement
The Five Star Movement ( it, Movimento 5 Stelle , M5S) is a political party in Italy. Its leader and president is Giuseppe Conte, Prime Minister of Italy from 2018 until 2021. The M5S was founded on 4 October 2009 by Beppe Grillo, a comedian and blogger, and Gianroberto Casaleggio, a web strategist. From 2014 to 2017, it was a member of the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy group in the European Parliament, along with the UK Independence Party and minor Eurosceptic parties. In January 2017, M5S members voted in favour of Grillo's proposal to join the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Group but the party was eventually refused, and has since sat as Non-Inscrits in the European Parliament. Antonio Di Pietro
Antonio Di Pietro (; born 2 October 1950) is an Italian politician, lawyer and magistrate. He was a minister in government of Romano Prodi, a Senator, and a Member of the European Parliament. He was a prosecutor in the ''Mani Pulite'' corruption trials in the early 1990s. Prosecutor Di Pietro was born in Montenero di Bisaccia, a ''comune'' in the province of Campobasso, in the Southern Italian region of Molise, to a poor rural family. As a young man he travelled to Germany, in the city of Böhmenkirch (Baden-Württemberg), where he worked in a factory in the mornings and in a sawmill in the afternoons to pay for his studies. Davide Casaleggio (born 14 January 1976) is an Italian entrepreneur and political activist, born in Milan. Biography Davide Federico Dante Casaleggio was born in Milan in 1976 and grew up in Ivrea. After the death of his father Gianroberto, he became chairman of Casaleggio Associati srl, an internet and consulting company that advises on innovation strategies, and editor of Beppe Grillo's blog. Since 2016 Casaleggio has become a prominent figure in the Five Star Movement, a party which was founded by his father along with Beppe Grillo. In the Italian context, Casaleggio has promoted the Web as a medium for political communication and participation. His role in the Five Star Movement has become increasingly important, albeit unofficial. Like his father, he is considered the grey eminence of the movement.
