Gianna Woodruff
Gianna Ursula Woodruff Washington (born November 18, 1993) is a Panamanian track and field athlete specializing in the 400 metres hurdles. She represented her country at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics improving her own South American record with a time of 54.22 seconds in the semi-finals to finish 7th in the final. In 2017, Woodruff reached the semi-finals at the World Championships. Born in Santa Monica, California, she has a dual citizenship with the United States and Panama. Her sister, Yasmin Woodruff, is a sprinter. The 17th Ibero-American Championships in Athletics were held at the Estádio Olímpico João Havelange in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between May 14-16, 2016. Since the event served also as the athletics event test for the 2016 Summer Olympics, countries that do not compete at Ibero-American Championships attended the event, including United States, Saudi Arabia and Australia. Cochabamba ( ay, Quchapampa; qu, Quchapampa) is a city and municipality in central Bolivia in a valley in the Andes mountain range. Athletics (Spanish: ''Atletismo''), for the 2017 Bolivarian Games, took place at the Bureche Athletics Stadium in Santa Marta, Colombia from 21 to 25 November. A total of 47 events were contested, divided between the sexes bar the men's 50 kilometres walk. The host nation, Colombia, topped the medal table (as it did in 2013) with 17 gold medals among a total of 52. Venezuela were the next most successful team, with 28 medals, 11 of them gold. Chile had the third highest number of winners, with six, while Ecuador was third on the total medal count with 21. The most successful athlete of the competition was Venezuela's Nercely Soto, who won the women's 200 metres and 400 metres (defending her 2013 double) as well as taking gold in the 4 × 100 metres relay and bronze in the 4 × 400 metres relay. 2017 World Championships In Athletics – Women's 400 Metres Hurdles
The women's 400 metres hurdles at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics was held at the London Olympic Stadium on and 10 August. Summary Olympic champion Dalilah Muhammad (USA) duplicated her strategy by running aggressively from the start of the final, making up the stagger on Léa Sprunger (SUI) to her outside during the first turn and passing two-time defending champion Zuzana Hejnová (CZE) another lane over by the third hurdle. The closest to keep pace with Muhammad was Kori Carter (USA) almost unnoticed out in lane 9. By the time they arrived on the home stretch, Muhammad had a step on Carter, with Hejnová another two steps back. But Carter closed quickly, passing Muhammad before the final hurdle and running powerfully to the finish for the win. Also closing fast from two steps behind, Ristananna Tracey (JAM) caught Hejnová over the tenth hurdle and widened the gap for a clear bronze.
