Gian Nicola Berti
Gian Nicola Berti (born 9 August 1960) is a politician who served as a Captain Regent of San Marino (alongside Massimo Andrea Ugolini). He served from 1 April 2016 to 1 October 2016 and represented We Sammarinese. Berti was first elected to the Grand and General Council in 2008. He is a lawyer by profession, and is married with two children. A shooting sportsman, he competed in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Gian Marco Berti (born 11 November 1982) is a Sammarinese Shooting sport, sports shooter. He competed in the Shooting at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's trap, men's trap and the Shooting at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Mixed trap team, mixed trap team events at the 2020 Summer Olympics. In the mixed trap team event he won a silver medal with Alessandra Perilli which made them San Marino's first Olympic silver medallists. He won the bronze medal in the men's trap event at the 2022 Mediterranean Games held in Oran, Algeria. Personal life Berti studied law at the University of Urbino. The Captains Regent (Italian: ''Capitani reggenti'') are the two heads of state of the Republic of San Marino. They are elected every six months by the Grand and General Council, the country's legislative body. Normally the Regents are chosen from opposing parties and they serve a six-month term. Trap was one of the thirteen shooting events at the 1988 Summer Olympics. It was held on 20 September 1988 at the Taereung International Shooting Range. There were 49 competitors from 28 nations, with each nation having up to four shooters (up from two per nation in prior editions). The event was decided by a shoot-off between Dmitry Monakov of the Soviet Union and Miloslav Bednařík of Czechoslovakia, with Monakov emerging as the winner with 8–7. Frans Peeters of Belgium took bronze after a three-way shoot-off. Monakov's victory was the first gold medal for the Soviet Union in the trap; Czechoslovakia and Belgium each received their first medal in the event as well. Italy's four-Games medal streak ended.
