Ghulam Ali Wahdat
General Ghulam Ali Wahdat ( prs, غلامعلی وحدت ) is a Hazara politician from Afghanistan. He served as governor of Bamyan province from (October, 2013 to June, 2015). Early life Ghulam Ali Wahdat, son of Nawazesh Ali, was born on 22 March 1955 in Yakawlang district of Bamiyan province. In 1978 he graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Kabul University and joined the police force. Bamyan Province ( prs, ولایت بامیان) also spelled Bamiyan, Bāmīān or Bāmyān is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan, located in the central highlands of the Afghanistan. The terrain in Bamyan is mountainous or semi-mountainous, at the western end of the Hindu Kush mountains concurrent with the Himalayas. The province is divided into eight districts, with the town of Bamyan serving as its capital. Afghan Army
The Army of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (), also referred to as the Islamic Emirate Army and the Afghan Army, is the land force branch of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. The roots of an army in Afghanistan can be traced back to the early 18th century when the Hotak dynasty was established in Kandahar followed by Ahmad Shah Durrani's rise to power. It was reorganized in 1880 during Emir Abdur Rahman Khan's reign. Afghanistan remained neutral during the First and Second World Wars. From the 1960s to the early 1990s, the Afghan Army was equipped by the Soviet Union. After the resignation of President Najibullah in 1992, the army effectively dissolved. Yakawlang District
Yakawlang District ( fa, یکاولنگ) is located in the northwestern part of Bamyan Province. Its population is 76,897 (2011) predominantly from the Hazara people, Hazara ethnic group. The capital city Yakawlang (altitude 2714m) formerly held 60,000 residents, and it was destroyed by Taliban forces in 2001. Massacres of civilians by the Taliban were reported by Human Rights groups.There is a gravel surfaced airport near the city. The road between the provincial capital Bamyan city and Yakawlang district was asphalted in October 2012, reducing the four-hour distance to 80 minutes. The 98-kilometre road cost $70 million (3.6 billion Afghanis), the Asian Development Bank and Japan jointly funded project, and was implemented by a Korean road construction company in a period of four years.
