The Ghostbusters (franchise), ''Ghostbusters'' franchise spawned various comic books published by various comic book companies through the years starting in 1988 and continuing to the present day. These comics have ranged from being based on ''The Real Ghostbusters'' animated series, to the Ghostbusters, 1984 film. ''The Real Ghostbusters'' The very first comic book addition to the ''Ghostbusters'' franchise was ''The Real Ghostbusters''. It was a comic book, comic series based on the The Real Ghostbusters, animated series of the same name. NOW Comics and Marvel Comics shared the comic book rights to the property. NOW Comics had the rights for publication in North America, while Marvel had the rights in Europe. Marvel published the series in Europe through their Marvel UK imprint. Some of the Marvel UK issues reprinted material from the NOW Comics series, and vice versa. Publication of the series began on March 28, 1988. Peter Venkman
Peter Venkman, PhD is a fictional character from the ''Ghostbusters'' franchise. He appears in the films ''Ghostbusters'', ''Ghostbusters II'', '' Ghostbusters: Afterlife'' and in the animated television series ''The Real Ghostbusters''. In all three live action films, he was portrayed by Bill Murray, and was voiced in the animated series first by Lorenzo Music and then by Dave Coulier. Dan Aykroyd originally wrote the script with John Belushi in mind to play the role of Venkman but Belushi died of a drug overdose on March 5 1982, leading Murray to get the role. He is a parapsychologist, initially a skeptic on the paranormal despite being a scientist on the subject, and the leader of the Ghostbusters. Phil Hester (comics)
Phil Hester (born 1966) is an American comic book artist, penciller and writer. Early life Phil Hester is an alumnus of the University of Iowa. He is originally from North English, Iowa. Career Hester's pencilling credits include ''Swamp Thing, Brave New World, Flinch, Ultimate Marvel Team-Up, Clerks: The Lost Scene, The Crow: Waking Nightmares, The Wretch'' (nominated for the 1997 Eisner Award for Best New Series), ''Aliens: Purge'', and ''Green Arrow''. During his run on ''Green Arrow'', he created the characters Mia Dearden and Onomatopoeia with writer Kevin Smith as well as Constantine Drakon with writer Judd Winick. Hester co-created ''Uncle Slam and Firedog'' with his ''Green Arrow'' collaborator, artist Ande Parks. Helen Stone
Helen Stone is an English civil engineer and has been managing director of WS Atkins Structural Engineering, which she joined in 1972. Early life Helen Elizabeth Stone was born in February 1950. Education She attended the North London Collegiate School and was inspired to become a civil engineer through, in her own words, "a trip up the newly-opened M1 motorway when I was 10." She studied civil engineering at the University of Birmingham, obtained chartered status, and has worked on engineering projects including the Channel Tunnel, motorways, a theme park, a shopping centre, aircraft hangar and oil refinery. Richard Starkings
Richard Starkings (born 27 January 1962) is a British font designer and comic book letterer, editor and writer. He was one of the early pioneers of computer-based comic-book lettering, and is one of the most prolific creators in that industry. Career Starkings' lettering style was originally inspired by British comic strip letterers Bill Nuttall and Tom Frame. Starkings' UK career began with lettering jobs in '' 2000 ADs ''Future Shocks'' and various strips in ''Warrior''. From there he moved to Marvel UK where he lettered Zoids in ''Spider-Man Weekly'' and ''Transformers'' before becoming an editor for the company in the late 1980s. Anthony Williams is a Welsh comic book artist. Biography He broke into comics at Marvel UK, drawing for the series ''Action Force,'' ''The Real Ghostbusters'' and ''Transformers'', among others. Andy Lanning
Andy Lanning is an English comic book writer and inker, known for his work for Marvel Comics and DC Comics, and for his collaboration with Dan Abnett. Career Lanning works primarily at Marvel Comics and DC Comics as an inker. He has also pencilled books, such as his creation ''The Sleeze Brothers''. Lanning's writing has included his and Abnett's 2000 relaunch of DC's title ''Legion of Super-Heroes''. The two co-created the Resurrection Man character with artist Jackson Guice in 1997. Lanning and Abnett also collaborated on an ongoing ''Nova'' series for Marvel, which premiered in 2007. Dan Abnett (born 12 October 1965) is an English comic book writer and novelist. He has been a frequent collaborator with fellow writer Andy Lanning, and is known for his work on books for both Marvel Comics, and their UK imprint, Marvel UK, since the 1990s, and also ''2000 AD (comics), 2000 AD''. He has also contributed to DC Comics titles, and his ''Warhammer Fantasy (setting), Warhammer Fantasy'' and ''Warhammer 40,000'' novels and graphic novels for Games Workshop's Black Library now run to several dozen titles and have sold over two million copies. John Carnell
Edward John Carnell (8 April 1912 – 23 March 1972) was a British science fiction editor known for editing ''New Worlds'' in 1946 then from 1949 to 1963. He also edited ''Science Fantasy'' from the 1950s. After the magazines were sold to another publisher he left to launch the '' New Writings in Science Fiction'' anthology series, editing 21 issues until his death, after which the series was continued by Kenneth Bulmer for a further 9 issues.
