Ghost Light (Doctor Who)
''Ghost Light'' is the second serial of the 26th season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in three weekly parts on BBC1 from 4 to 18 October 1989. Set in a mansion house in Perivale in 1883, Josiah Smith ( Ian Hogg), a cataloguer of life forms from another planet, seeks to assassinate Queen Victoria and take over the British Empire. After completing its task and collecting samples which included Nimrod, a being known as Light, the leader, went into slumber. Mark Ayres
Mark Ayres is an electronic musician, composer and audio engineer. Ayres studied music and electronics at Keele University. He also worked as a sound engineer at TV-am between 1982 and 1987. As a television composer, he became known for providing incidental music on the original series of '' Doctor Who''. Ayres's work on broadcast ''Doctor Who'' was during Sylvester McCoy's era as the Seventh Doctor, comprising '' The Greatest Show in the Galaxy'', '' Ghost Light'' and ''The Curse of Fenric''. Andrew J. Cartmel (born 6 April 1958) is a British author and journalist. He was the script editor of '' Doctor Who'' during the Sylvester McCoy era of the show between 1987 and 1989. He has also worked as a script editor on other television series, as a magazine editor, as a comics writer, as a film studies lecturer, and as a novelist. Marc Platt (writer)
Marc Platt (born 1953) is a British novelist and playwright. He is best known for his work with the BBC science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. Career After studying catering at a technical college, Platt worked first for Trust House Forte, and then in administration for the BBC. After multiple attempts to work on the series, he wrote the 1989 ''Doctor Who'' serial '' Ghost Light'' based on two proposals, one of which later became the novel ''Lungbarrow''. That novel was greatly anticipated by fans as it was the culmination of the so-called "Cartmel Masterplan", revealing details of the Doctor's background and family.
