Ghanaian Canadian
Ghanaian Canadians are Canadians of full or partial Ghanaian ancestry. Ghanaians who became naturalized citizens of Canada preferably refer to themselves as ''Ghanaian Canadians''. Overview Ghanaians first immigrated to Canada in the 1960s. Many Ghanaians reside in the Toronto area, although quite a few can be found in other parts of Canada. Although characterized by their religious involvement, Ghanaian Canadians seem to have reservations about integrating into broader Canadian community. Languages Most Ghanaian Canadians speak English fluently as it is the official language of communication in Ghana. Most also speak local languages in addition to English, the most popular being Twi. Other spoken languages are Fante, Ga, Ewe, Dagbani, Nzema, Gonja, and Kasem. Togo (), officially the Togolese Republic (french: République togolaise), is a country in West Africa. It is bordered by Ghana to the west, Benin to the east and Burkina Faso to the north. Kwame Awuah
Kwame Awuah (born December 2, 1995) is a Canadian professional soccer player. Club career Early career Awuah played for the Club Uruguary Toronto, Woodbridge Strikers, the Ontario provincial program and the Dante Alighieri varsity boys soccer team, for which he was elected MVP. In 2013, he graduated from the Sigma FC Academy program. Awuah then played for the UConn Huskies where he played as a left back, a center midfielder, and a left winger. He won many awards during his time there, including being selected to the American Athletic Conference First Team multiple times. Clement "Nana" Attakora-Gyan (born March 27, 1989), known as Nana Attakora and later Clement Attakora, is a Canadian former soccer player and coach, formerly a player and later assistant manager and director of player personnel of Oakland Roots. Career Professional Born in North York, Ontario, Attakora trained with Everton of the English Premier League during the summer of 2007, prior to signing for Toronto FC. Kwabena Asare (born February 25, 1992) is a professional Canadian football offensive lineman who is currently a free agent. He played U Sports football at  Carleton. University career Asare played U Sports football for five seasons for the Carleton Ravens from 2012 to 2016 while pursuing a degree in Communication and Media Studies. Kojo Aidoo (born November 27, 1978) is a former Canadian football fullback (gridiron football), fullback and special teams specialist who played for the Edmonton Eskimos, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 2003 to 2007. Originally from Ghana, Aidoo played college football for the McMaster Marauders football, McMaster Marauders from 1998 to 2002. Richard Adu-Bobie
Richard Adu-Bobie (born 12 January 1985) is a Canadian sprinter. He was an alternate for Canada's 4 × 100 m relay team at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He was an alternate for the same team at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire to Ghanaian parents, Adu-Bobie moved to Canada at a young age and received his Canadian citizenship just two days prior to the Olympic trials. Adu-Bobie attended Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School in Ottawa, Canada, where he first launched into his sprinting career. Following the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Adu-Bobie went to the University of Florida where he placed third in the 60-yard dash at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship. Natey Adjei ( ;; born September 15, 1989) is a former Canadian football wide receiver in the Canadian Football League (CFL) who played in six seasons and was a member of three CFL teams. He played college football at City College of San Francisco and the University at Buffalo and attended St. Joseph Secondary School in Mississauga, Ontario. Rukayatu "Ruky" Abdulai (born 8 August 1985 in Accra, Ghana) is a Canadian long jumper and heptathlete, who holds a dual citizenship with Ghana. She won the bronze medal for the long jump at the 2009 Summer Universiade in Belgrade, Serbia, with an astonishing mark of 6.44 metres. Abdulai, a native of Accra, Ghana, attended on a track and field scholarship at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.
