Geylang Methodist School (Secondary) (GMS(S)) is a co-educational government-aided Methodist secondary school located in Geylang, Singapore. Founded in 1924, the school offers secondary education leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level or Singapore-Cambridge GCE Normal Level examinations. The incumbent principal is Mr Victor Owyong. History Geylang Methodist School (Secondary) was founded in 1924 as Geylang Methodist Girls' School by Rev Lloyd Sullivan, Mrs Chia Han Kiat and Miss Walker, who were members of the Methodist Church. The school began with an enrolment of 27 girls, with lessons conducted in the Geylang Chinese Methodist Church, offering primary-level education. During the Japanese occupation of Singapore, the school ceased operations. Its grounds were repurposed as military barracks until its abandonment in 1943 by the Japanese. National Police Cadet Corps
The National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) is one of the national uniformed group for youths between age 13 to 17 in Singapore. The organisation is supported by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Established in 1959, it trains young boys and girls in the values of law enforcement and public safety. Brief history Following Singapore's successful elections of 1959, the new government, among other policies, began to pressure the Singapore Police Force (SPF) to form a youth unit on the lines of the long serving military cadet organizations of the island. The Boys' Brigade in Singapore is a youth uniformed group organisation and part of the global Boys' Brigade movement which has been present in Singapore since 1930. It currently consists of over 700 officers and 6,300 Boys in over 116 companies. The current Brigade President is Poh Leong Berg and the Honorary President is Lieutenant-General (Ret) Winston Choo, the former Chief of Defence Force of the Singapore Armed Forces.
