Geyer
Geyer is a town in the district of Erzgebirgskreis, in Saxony, Germany. It has a population of about 4000. Geography Geyer is situated northwest of Annaberg-Buchholz, and south of Chemnitz, in the valley of the ''Geyersbach'' creek. The town is largely surrounded by forest, with the ''Geyersche Wald'' forest to the west being owned by the town. Geyer borders to Ehrenfriedersdorf in the north east, Tannenberg in the south east, Elterlein in the south. The town of Zwönitz is in the west, Hormersdorf to the north west and the Greifensteine area to the north. History Geyer was first mentioned in official documents in 1381, although mining in the Erzgebirge area had already existed a few decades before. In 1407 Geyer was granted town privileges (''Marktrecht''), and 60 years later it already became a town. In 1537 the town was introduced to the Protestant Reformation. Grobogan Regency ( jv, ꦒꦿꦺꦴꦧꦺꦴꦒꦤ꧀) is a Regencies of Indonesia, regency ( id, kabupaten) located in northeastern part of the Central Java province in Indonesia. Created on 4 March 1726, the Grobogan Regency has an area of 2,022.25 km2, and is the second largest regency in the Central Java Province. It had a population of 1,308,696 at the 2010 census, 1,351,429 at the Intermediate census of 2015 and 1,453,526 at the 2020 census. Its capital is the town of Purwodadi Grobogan, Purwodadi. 8th SS Cavalry Division Florian Geyer
The 8th SS Cavalry Division "Florian Geyer" was a German Waffen-SS cavalry division during World War II. It was formed in 1942 from a cadre of the SS Cavalry Brigade which was involved in the ''Bandenbekämpfung'' ("bandit-fighting") operations behind the front line and was responsible for the killing of tens of thousands of the civilian population.Hannes Heer, War of Extermination, p.136 It continued "pacification" operations in the occupied Soviet Union, leading to further atrocities. Formation The training and replacement battalion of the division was involved in suppressing the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. In March 1944, it was named after Florian Geyer (1490–1525), the Franconian nobleman who led the Black Company during the German Peasants' War. Veterans from the division formed the core of the 22nd SS Volunteer Cavalry Division Maria Theresia, following the latter's creation on 29April 1944. Geyer Act
The Geyer Act of 1839 was an act of the Missouri State Legislature which established the public school system of Missouri as well as the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. The act was introduced by congressman James S. Rollins from Boone County and named after its author, Henry Geyer. Rollins became known as the "Father of the University of Missouri" in part because of his support in the bills passaged. The act was designed after Thomas Jefferson's plan for public education in Virginia. Most of the act was revoked by 1841 out of practicality, but still the foundations of public education in Missouri can be traced to the passage of the Geyer Act. ''Salix geyeriana'' is a species of willow known by the common names Geyer's willow, Geyer willow and silver willow. The type specimen was collected by the botanist Karl Andreas Geyer, for whom it was named. Its conspicuous, yellow flowers begin to bloom as early as March, to as late as the end of June. Description ''Salix geyeriana'' is a shrub growing up to tall, sometimes forming dense colonial thickets. The leaves are narrowly or widely lance-shaped and may grow over 7 cm long. Young leaves are coated in white or pale silky hairs, and some adult leaves retain their hairy textures. The leaves generally lack stipules or have only vestigial ones. ''Carex geyeri'' is a species of sedge known by the common names Geyer's sedge and elk sedge. It is native to western North America from British Columbia to California to Colorado, where it grows in dry areas in mountain meadows, grasslands, and open forest. ''Vertigo geyeri'' is a species of minute air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc or micromollusc in the family Vertiginidae, the whorl snails. The specific name ''geyeri'' is in honor of German zoologist David Geyer (1855–1932). Description The egg-shaped-oval shell measures just . in length and in width. There are up to five whorls with deep seams. The aperture has four small protrusions (called "teeth") (on parietal one columellar and two palatal), it can also have fewer teeth. The colour of the shell is reddish-brown and the surface is shiny. The shell has regular growth striations and is almost smooth.
