Gewiss–Bianchi was an Italian professional cycling team that existed from 1979 to 1989. The team was selected to race in eleven consecutive editions of the Giro d'Italia from 1979 to 1989, where they achieved 19 stage wins. 1987 Giro D'Italia
The 1987 Giro d'Italia was the 70th edition of the bicycle race. It began on 21 May with a prologue in San Remo, and concluded on 13 June with a individual time trial in Saint-Vincent. A total of 180 riders from 20 teams entered the 22-stage, -long race, which was won by Irishman Stephen Roche of the team. Second and third places were taken by British rider Robert Millar and Dutchman Erik Breukink, respectively. It was the second time in the history of the Giro that the podium was occupied solely by non-Italian riders. Roche's victory in the 1987 Giro was his first step in completing the Triple Crown of Cycling – winning the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France, and the World Championship road race in one calendar year – becoming the second rider ever to do so. Serge Parsani (born 28 August 1952 in Gorcy, France) is an Italian former professional road bicycle racer, who won one stage in the 1979 Tour de France. Currently, he is the general manager of UCI ProTeam . 1979 Tour de France In the 1979 Tour de France, Parsani was in a breakaway together with Gerrie Knetemann in the 20th stage. At the end of the stage, Knetemann outsprinted Parsani, and Parsani was the second cyclist to cross the finishline. However, Knetemann received a 10-second penalty for being pulled by a car, and so Parsani became the winner of the stage. Claudio Bortolotto (born 19 March 1952) is an Italian former professional cyclist. The highlight of his career came with his victories in the mountains classification at the Giro d'Italia, which he won in 1979, 1980, and 1981. Bortolotto finished also eighth overall in the 1977 and 1978 editions of the race. He retired from cycling in 1984. Moreno Argentin (born 17 December 1960) is an Italian former professional cyclist (from 1981 to 1994) and race director. Born in San Donà di Piave (Veneto), he won stages in the Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia, and the Tour de Suisse. 1983 Giro D'Italia
The 1983 Giro d'Italia was the 66th running of the Giro. It started in Brescia, on 12 May, with an prologue and concluded in Udine, on 5 June, with a individual time trial. A total of 162 riders from eighteen teams entered the 22-stage race, that was won by Italian Giuseppe Saronni of the Del Tongo-Colnago team. The second and third places were taken by Italian Roberto Visentini and Spaniard Alberto Fernández, respectively. Amongst the other classifications that the race awarded, Saronni won the points classification, Lucien Van Impe of Metauro Mobili won the mountains classification, and Vivi-Benotto's Franco Chioccioli completed the Giro as the best neo-professional in the general classification, finishing sixteenth overall. 1987 Vuelta A España
The 42nd Edition ''Vuelta a España'' (Tour of Spain), a long-distance bicycle stage race and one of the 3 grand tours, was held from 23 April to 15 May 1987. It consisted of 22 stages covering a total of 3,921 km, and was won by Luis Herrera of the Café de Colombia cycling team. It was the first win of a Grand Tour by a Colombian and also the first of a South American. With the 1986 Vuelta Champion, Álvaro Pino was absent due to health problems, the principal favourites for the overall classification were Laurent Fignon, Pedro Delgado and Sean Kelly. The Vuelta a Andalucía (Tour of Andalusia) or Ruta del Sol (Route of the Sun) is a regional Spanish road bicycle race first held in 1925.
