Getty Ministry
The Getty Ministry was the combined Executive Council of Alberta, Cabinet (called Executive Council of Alberta), chaired by Premier of Alberta, Premier Don Getty, and Minister (government), Ministers that governed Alberta from the mid-point of the 20th Alberta Legislature from November 1, 1985, to nearly the end of the 22nd Alberta Legislature until December 14, 1992. The Executive Council (commonly known as the Cabinet (government), cabinet) was made up of members of the Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta which held a majority government, majority of seats in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. The cabinet was appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta on the advice of the Premier. Don Getty
Donald Ross Getty (August 30, 1933 – February 26, 2016) was a Canadian politician who served as the 11th premier of Alberta between 1985 and 1992. A member of the Progressive Conservatives, he served as Energy Minister and Federal and Intergovernmental Affairs Minister in the government of Peter Lougheed before leaving politics for the private sector in 1979. He returned to politics six years later to contest the leadership contest resulting from Lougheed's retirement. He defeated two other candidates, and became Premier November 1, 1985. As Premier, Getty was faced with an economic slowdown and falling energy prices, which hit Alberta's petroleum-dominated economy hard. Ernie Isley (politician)
Ernest Douglas "Ernie" Isley (born June 29, 1937) is a former school principal and provincial and municipal level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1979 to 1993. He is the former mayor for the town of Bonnyville, Alberta, Isley served that post after being acclaimed in a by-election on March 7, 2006, until being defeated by Gene Sobolewski on October 21, 2013. LeRoy Fjordbotten
Edwin LeRoy Fjordbotten (November 4, 1938 June 8, 2017) was a Canadian provincial level politician, farmer and auctioneer. He served as cabinet minister in the government of Alberta serving various portfolios from 1982 to 1992. He held as seat in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta as an MLA in the governing Progressive Conservative caucus from 1979 to 1993. John Gogo
John Albert Gogo (February 15, 1932 – April 4, 2015) was a Canadian politician. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1975 to 1993 and served several years in the provincial cabinet. Gogo joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1949 and saw combat in the Korean War. He attained the rank of sergeant by the time he left the Army in 1962. In 1972 he became President of the Rotary Club of Lethbridge. Gogo ran in the 1975 Alberta general election as a Progressive Conservative candidate in the riding of Lethbridge West; he defeated incumbent Social Credit MLA Richard Gruenwald by a wide margin. Ken Rostad
Kenneth Leif Rostad (born September 7, 1941) is a former politician from Alberta, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1986 to 1997. He held several cabinet portfolios in the Alberta provincial government. Louis Davies Hyndman, (July 1, 1935 – November 24, 2013) was a Canadian lawyer and politician from Alberta. He served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for 19 years and was a member of Premier Peter Lougheed and Don Getty's Cabinets.
