Getting Home
''Getting Home'' () is a 2007 Chinese comedy/drama film directed by Zhang Yang and starring Chinese comedian Zhao Benshan. It is episodic and follows two workers in their 50s, Zhao (Zhao Benshan) and Liu (Hong Qiwen). The film opens when Liu unexpectedly dies after a night of drinking and Zhao decides to fulfill a promise to his friend to get him home, beginning a long odyssey from Shenzhen to Chongqing with Liu's corpse on his back. Along the way, Zhao meets a variety of figures, played by several of China's better known character actors. ''Getting Home'' is Zhang Yang's fifth feature film. It was produced by Filmko Entertainment of Hong Kong and the Beijing Jinqianshengshi Culture Media company of the People's Republic of China. Zhang Yang (director)
Zhang Yang (; born 1967) is a Chinese film director, screenwriter, and occasional actor. He is the son of film director, Zhang Huaxun. Zhang grew up in Beijing, studied until 1988 at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangdong, from which he graduated with a degree in Chinese literature, and then went to the Central Academy of Drama, graduating in 1992. Career Zhang Yang uses a realistic style, and achieved great recognition for his 1999 independent production '' Xizao'' (; English translation: ''Shower''), which was successful at Chinese box offices as well as international film festivals. This was followed in 2001 by ''Zuotian'' ("Quitting" in its American release). Peter Loehr
Peter Loehr is an American film producer and executive who spent the bulk of his career in Asia. He was the chief executive officer of Legendary East, a Beijing-based division of Legendary Entertainment from 2012 to 2017. Loehr first arrived in China in 1996 and founded Imar Film Company in collaboration with Xian Film Studio in 1997. Spicy Love Soup was the first film produced by Loehr, the film grossed over $2.8 million and he later produced A Beautiful New World and Shower.
