Get The Message (game Show)
''Get the Message'' is a television game show produced by Mark Goodson and Bill Todman which aired on ABC's daytime schedule for nine months in 1964. Frank Buxton was the original host and was replaced by Robert Q. Lewis on September 28. The announcers were Chet Gould and Johnny Olson. Main game Two teams of three people—men versus women—competed, each featuring one contestant and two celebrities. On each turn, the celebrities were shown a message (e.g., person, place, thing, common phrase, etc.) on the screens in front of them. All four celebrities wrote down a one-word clue on index cards without any discussion among them. Both celebrities on the team playing first showed and read their clues to their teammate, who then attempted to guess the message. If incorrect, play passed to the opposing team who followed the same process. If the opposing contestant failed to guess the message, one more round of clue-writing and reading took place. Mark Goodson
Mark Leo Goodson (January 14, 1915 – December 18, 1992) was an American television producer who specialized in game shows, most frequently with his business partner Bill Todman, with whom he created Goodson-Todman Productions. Early life and early career Goodson was born in Sacramento, California, on January 14, 1915. *a "Born Jan. 14, 1915 in Sacramento, CA." — ¶ 1. Jamie Farr (born Jameel Joseph Farah; July 1, 1934) is an American comedian and actor. He is best known for playing the cross-dressing Corporal turned Sergeant Maxwell Q. Lost television broadcasts are mostly those early television programs which cannot be accounted for in studio archives (or in personal archives) usually because of deliberate destruction or neglect. Common reasons for loss A significant proportion of early television programming was never recorded in the first place. Early broadcasting in all genres was live and sometimes performed repeatedly. Bill Todman
William Selden Todman (July 31, 1916 – July 29, 1979) was an American television producer and personality born in New York City. He produced many of television's longest-running shows with business partner Mark Goodson, with whom he created Goodson-Todman Productions. Early life Todman was the son of a Wall Street accountant, Frederick S. Todman, CPA, whose accounting firm was known as Frederick S. Todman & Co. and for many years was located at 111 Broadway, downtown Manhattan. The firm represented some of the United States' biggest companies, including the New York Stock Exchange, American Stock Exchange, Polaroid, Eastman Kodak, and Chase Manhattan Bank. Frederick S.
