''Get Used to It'' is a funk album by the Brand New Heavies released 27 June 2006 via Starbucks and more traditional music retail outlets. Background ''Get Used to It'' is the first album with lead singer N'Dea Davenport since she departed the band after the release of their 1994 album ''Brother Sister'' for a solo career. Following the band's reunion with Davenport. They also reunited with their former record label Delicious Vinyl. The album was recorded in New York and London. Funk
Funk is a music genre that originated in African American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of various music genres that were popular among African Americans in the mid-20th century. Delicious Vinyl is an American independent record label founded by Matt Dike and Michael Ross in 1987 and based in Los Angeles, California. History Michael Ross was a student at the University of California, Los Angeles when he met Matt Dike, a DJ from New York, in 1983. Dike was working at the Rhythm Lounge in Hollywood. They discovered that they were both members of Impact Record Pool, a service that provided new 12" records to club DJs, and that they shared an interest in soul, funk, and hip-hop. Soon Dike became the top DJ at Power Tools, a club in Los Angeles. In 1987, they founded Delicious Vinyl, an independent record label. Almost immediately the label was a success. After their most identifiable lead singer N'Dea Davenport left the band to pursue a solo career in the mid-1990s, the band rotated in several African-American singer/songwriters Siedah Garrett, Carleen Anderson, and Sy Smith as lead vocalists on previous projects. "I Don't Know Why" (sometimes listed as "Don't Know Why I Love You") is a song by American singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder, from the 1968 album ''For Once in My Life''. N'Dea Davenport (born September 22, 1966) is an American singer, songwriter, dancer and producer. She was the lead vocalist in the UK acid jazz band the Brand New Heavies and made pioneering contributions to the genre of acid jazz. Career Her diverse projects include collaborations with music producers and artists, such as Mark Ronson, Louie Vega, Roger Sanchez, Guru’s Jazzmatazz, Madonna, Natalie Merchant, Mos Def, Sly and Robbie, J Dilla, and Malcolm McLaren.
