Gerves Fagan
Gerves Franklin Fagan (May 12, 1916 – June 18, 1973) was an American Negro league second baseman in the 1940s. A native of Walls, Mississippi, Fagan made his Negro leagues debut in 1942 with the Jacksonville Red Caps and Memphis Red Sox. He played for Memphis again the following season, and also appeared with the New York Black Yankees The New York Black Yankees were a professional Negro league baseball team based in New York City; Paterson, New Jersey; and Rochester, New York. The Negro leagues were United States professional baseball leagues comprising teams of African Americans and, to a lesser extent, Latin Americans. The term may be used broadly to include professional black teams outside the leagues and it may be used narrowly for the seven relatively successful leagues beginning in 1920 that are sometimes termed "Negro Major Leagues".
