Gert Chesi in the Voodoo forest. Gert Chesi (born 22 August 1940 in Schwaz, Tyrol) is an Austrian photographer, author, journalist and filmmaker. At the end of the 1970s he became internationally famous after publishing the book ''Last Africans'', which was translated into six languages. In 1995 Gert Chesi founded the Haus der Völker in Schwaz, which is a museum for tribal art and ethnography. Today Gert Chesi lives in Togo, Thailand and Austria. Life Early life At an early age, Gert Chesi traveled to distant countries. In 1959 he worked as a freelance journalist and photographer for local newspapers to report on his experiences. Gert Aandewiel (born 9 September 1969 in Leiden) is a Dutch football manager and former football player. Club career He played professional football for FC Volendam (1996-1997), Sparta Rotterdam (1997-1999) and FC Dordrecht (1999). Managerial career After winning two amateur championships and the Amateur Coach of the Year trophy with Quick Boys, Aandewiel became manager of Haarlem in 2005. On 8 February 2007, when working as a coach for HFC Haarlem, he was named as the new manager of Sparta Rotterdam to replace Wiljan Vloet at the end of the 2006-2007 season. Gert Bettens is the lead guitarist of the Belgian band K's Choice. He, with his brother Sam Bettens, is the face of the band. The band is popular in Europe and had toured in the U.S. with The Verve Pipe, Tonic, Alanis Morissette and the Indigo Girls, as well as on their own. Gerrit "Gert" Bals (18 October 1936 – 20 May 2016) was a Dutch footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Bals became the first Dutch goalkeeper in an UEFA Cup final, when he played for Ajax in the 1969 European Cup Final against Milan. Club career Born in Utrecht, Bals played for local side RUC and Velox before joining SV Zeist when they entered at the start of the professional era in Holland. After a spell at 't Gooi, he moved to PSV for whom he would play 120 matches winning the 1963 league title and later Ajax. Gert Alberts
Gert Andries Jacobus Alberts (born 3 January 1836 in Swellendam – died 29 March 1927 in Humpata) was the leader of the First Dorsland Trek. He was a member of the Gereformeerde Kerk (or 'Dopper' church) and served as a church elder (‘kerkraadslid’). Elected leader of the trekkers, he left Pretoria on 27 May 1874. Alberts led ten families across the Kalahari, taking 50 oxwagons and 1,400 cattle with them. He split the trek in three groups, with a two-day interval between them, to avoid overcrowding the rare waterholes along the path. Three families turned back before they crossed the Kgalagadi Desert, where a handful of cattle were lost during the waterless journey. Reaching Lake Ngami on 29 April 1875, they demanded Hendrik van Zyl, a trader based in Ghanzi with a reputation for ruthlessness, access to his wells, but he initially refused. Gert Dorbek (born 10 June 1985) is an Estonian retired basketball player. He is a 1.93 m (6 ft 4 in) tall shooting guard.
