Gerry Robinson
Sir Gerrard Jude Robinson (23 October 1948 – 14 October 2021) was an Irish-born British business executive and television presenter. He was non-executive chairman of Allied Domecq and chairman/chief executive of Granada. Early life Robinson was born in Dunfanaghy, County Donegal, Ireland, the ninth of ten children born to Anthony and Elizabeth Robinson, an Irish father and a Scottish mother. They moved to England in his early teens. He trained to become a Catholic priest at St. Mary's Seminary of the Holy Ghost Fathers at Castlehead, Grange-over-Sands, Lancashire, and he later began a career in accounting in 1965 as a clerk with the Matchbox Toys company. While with the firm, he progressed through accounting roles to become Chief Management Accountant in 1974. During that time, he also qualified as an Associate Chartered Management Accountant. The Money Programme
''The Money Programme'' is a finance and business affairs television programme on BBC Two which ran between April 1966 and November 2010. It was first broadcast on 5 April 1966 and presented by "commentators" (financial journalists) William Davis, Erskine B. Childers and Joe Roeber. The programme's theme tune was a version of the main title theme from ''The Carpetbaggers'' (1964) (which appeared on an album by jazz organist Jimmy Smith). By 1989, the programme was updated with a new theme by George Fenton. The programme used a magazine style starting in the 1980s, but changed to a single subject documentary in 2001. More recently the programme has formed a partnership with the Open University Business School. The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust operates Rotherham General Hospital in South Yorkshire, England. John Harvey-Jones
Sir John Harvey-Jones MBE (16 April 1924 – 9 January 2008) was an English businessman. He was the chairman of Imperial Chemical Industries from 1982 to 1987. He was best known by the public for his BBC television show, '' Troubleshooter'', in which he advised struggling businesses. Troubleshooter (TV Series)
Troubleshooter was a British reality television series, produced and shown by the BBC, focusing on experienced business leaders visiting and advising small and often struggling UK businesses. It first aired in 1990 with Sir John Harvey-Jones, formerly of ICI. After the series won a BAFTA, Harvey-Jones decided that he didn't want to become a television personality, after one newspaper called him the "most famous industrialist since Isambard Kingdom Brunel." The greatest achievement of the ''Troubleshooter'' programmes was to make business management a popular discussion subject in the homes of millions of British people, and to provide a role model for people wanting to enter business. William Kay (journalist)
William Kay is a British financial and business journalist. Family and education William Kay grew up in central London where he attended St Marylebone School and Westminster City School. In 1965 he was awarded an Open Styring Scholarship to read Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at The Queen's College, Oxford. In 1968 he received a BA (Hons) and subsequently a MA. He attended UCLA's Professional Screenwriting course in 2014-15, and its Advanced Screenwriting course in 2017. In 2006 Kay accepted an invitation to emigrate to the United States as "an alien of extraordinary ability". He became a US citizen in 2011, whilst retaining his British nationality.
