Gerry Mannion
Gerard Patrick Mannion (21 December 1939 – 15 June 1994) was an English footballer, who played in the Football League for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City and Chester. Career Mannion joined First Division Wolverhampton Wanderers as a youngster, signing professional forms in November 1957. He spent his early professional days in the reserves before finally making his senior debut in the 1958 Charity Shield where Wolves went down 4–1 at Bolton Wanderers. The 1959–60 season saw his strongest run of games in a Wolves shirt as he made 10 consecutive appearances in the final run-in. Despite scoring six times in this spell, the club lost out on a third successive league title by a single point to Burnley, denying them a domestic double. He was limited to just 21 appearances in total for the Molineux club, largely due to the presence of Norman Deeley on the wing. Burtonwood is a village in the civil parish of Burtonwood and Westbrook, in the Borough of Warrington, Cheshire, England. Within the boundaries of the historic county of Lancashire, the name Burtonwood is known worldwide as the location of the former RAF Station Burtonwood military camp. 1962 Football League Cup Final
The 1962 Football League Cup Final was won by Norwich City, who defeated Rochdale 4–0 on aggregate over two legs. The first leg, played on 26 April 1962 at Rochdale's ground, Spotland, was won by Norwich 3–0. They then won the second leg 1–0 a week later on 1 May 1962, at their own ground, Carrow Road. This was Norwich City's first major trophy. Rochdale remained for a long time the only club from the lowest division – Division 4, which was the equivalent of the current League 2 – in English league football to reach the League Cup Final, until the feat was repeated by Bradford City in 2013, after their aggregate 4–3 win over Aston Villa. The Football League Second Division was the second level division in the English football league system between 1892 and 1992. Following the foundation of the FA Premier League, the Football League divisions were renumbered and the third tier became known as the Football League Second Division. Norman Deeley
Norman Victor Deeley (30 November 1933 – 7 September 2007) was an English professional footballer, who spent the majority of his league career with Wolverhampton Wanderers. He scored two goals in the 1960 FA Cup Final, in a performance that won him the Man of the Match award. He also won the league title three times with Wolves and was capped twice by England. Career Deeley, who played as a winger, broke into the Wolves team in the early 1950s and went on to win three league titles with the club, before his key role in the FA Cup triumph of 1960. He became a first-choice in the second title-winning season of 1957–58, scoring 23 goals in the process, and following it with 17 more the following year. Molineux Stadium
Molineux Stadium ( ) in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England, has been the home ground of Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers since 1889. The first stadium built for use by a Football League club, it was one of the first British grounds to have floodlights installed and hosted some of the earliest European club games in the 1950s. At the time of its multi-million pound renovation in the early 1990s, Molineux was one of the biggest and most modern stadia in England, though it has since been eclipsed by other ground developments.
