Gerrit Van Gelderen
Gerrit van Gelderen (1926-1994) was a Dutch-born naturalist, wildlife broadcaster, film-maker, illustrator and cartoonist, who lived and worked in Ireland for a large part of his life. He is famous for his television work on Amuigh Faoin Spéir with Éamon de Buitléar. and his series "To the Waters and the Wild" that ran from 1974 - 1994. Van Gelderen was born 26 August 1926 in Rotterdam and was educated at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. He moved to Dublin, Ireland, in 1955 to work in advertising. Some of his illustrations featured in the '' Farmers Journal''. In the 1960s he started working with de Buitléar producing programmes for television. Van Gelderen was a close friend of fellow Dutch graphic designer and artist Jan de Fouw who also moved to Ireland. Sandyford () is a suburb of Dublin, located in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland. Sandyford Business District makes up much of the suburb and encompasses 4 business parks: Sandyford Business Park, Stillorgan Business Park, Central Park and South County Business Park. Éamon De Buitléar
Éamon de Buitléar (; 22 January 1930 – 27 January 2013) was an Irish writer, musician and film maker. He was managing director of Éamon de Buitléar Ltd., a company which specialises in wildlife filming and television documentaries. The son of aide-de-camp to the then President of Ireland, Douglas Hyde, he grew up in a house of Irish language speakers in Wicklow. He began his working career in ''Garnett and Keegan's and Helys'', selling fishing gear and shotguns. It was there where he first met Seán Ó Riada. A 4 km circular walk or ''The De Buitléar Way'' on Bray Head commemorates his life and work, calling out notable flora and fauna in the area. It was inaugurated in May 2014 by his wife Lailí. Film career For many years in the 1960s he was the only independent film producer, with Gerrit van Gelderen, making wildlife programmes, notably the series ''Amuigh Faoin Spéir'' (English: "Out Under the Sky") for the Irish television channel, Telefís Éireann. Glencullen
Glencullen () is a village and townland in the county of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown in south County Dublin, Ireland. It is also the name of the valley above one end of which the village sits, and from which it takes its name, and is on the R116 road, on the slopes of Two Rock Mountain. The highest point of the area is at a height of about , making Glencullen one of the highest villages in Ireland. Glencullen is in the civil parish of Kilternan and the barony and Poor Law Union of Rathdown. Island Bridge (), formerly Sarah or Sarah's Bridge, is a road bridge spanning the River Liffey, in Dublin, Ireland which joins the South Circular Road to Conyngham Road at the Phoenix Park. Island Bridge and the surrounding area (often known as Islandbridge) are so named because of the island formed here by the creation of a mill race towards the right bank while the main current flows to the left. The River Camac emerges from a tunnel further downstream towards Dublin Heuston railway station.
