Gerrit Den Braber
Gerrit den Braber (23 March 1929 – 3 May 1997) was born in Rotterdam and was a Dutch songwriter and lyricist. Braber took music lessons in Rotterdam and Hilversum. He then went into Hospital Radio and joined the Dutch radio and television company VARA in 1955. He wrote the lyrics for three Eurovision Song Contest songs Fernando en Filippo, Ring-dinge-ding and I See a Star, he has also worked with former contestants Willeke Alberti, Corry Brokken, Anneke Grönloh, Lenny Kuhr and Conny Vandenbos as well as providing Dutch commentary for the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest. He was married to the mother of his children but they divorced and he went to live with Dutch artist Thérèse Steinmetz. He had three children and five grandchildren with his ex-wife. He died from a stroke in 1997. Conny Vandenbos
Jacoba Adriana Hollestelle (16 January 1937 – 7 April 2002), known professionally as Conny Vandenbos, was a popular Dutch singer. She had her first radio hit in 1966 and continued to make hit recordings throughout the 1970s. She represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 1965 with the song " 't Is genoeg". Career Vandenbos made her solo debut in the KRO radio programme ''Springplank'', a showcase for young talent, in which she performed French chansons. After her performance at the Belgian ''Knokkefestival'' in 1961, Conny signed a recording contract with Philips. In 1964, she made a television series ''Zeg maar Conny'' ("Call me Conny") for the Dutch public broadcaster NCRV. In 1965, she represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest held in Naples, Italy, with the song " 't Is genoeg", finishing in eleventh place. Rob De Nijs
Rob de Nijs (born 26 December 1942) is a Dutch singer and actor, active since the 1960s. Biography 1962–1968 De Nijs, backed by The Lords, won a talent-contest in 1962 and released his first single in 1962, " Ritme van de Regen". In 1965 De Nijs split from The Lords because they signed their own record-deal at another label; he embarked on a joint circus-tour with Johnny Lion. By 1967, De Nijs was a free agent; he performed at small venues and worked as a bartender for a living. Elisabeth Dorathea List, generally known as Liesbeth List (December 12, 1941 – March 25, 2020) was a Dutch singer, stage actress and television personality. She became popular during the 1960s and frequently collaborated with Ramses Shaffy. She also sang Jacques Brel's chansons in Dutch translation. Biography Early life List was born in Bandoeng, Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia), as Elisabeth "Elly" Dorathea Driessen. Her parents were separated in 1942 when during the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies, her father was forced to work in coal mines. Elly and her mother were sent to one of the many camps set up exclusively to imprison Dutch occupants of Indonesia; such camps were known under the Dutch nickname "jappenkamp" (Jap-Camp). The circumstances in which Elly and her mother lived in the camp were very hard on her mother, who developed depression. His best known song as a solo artist was his hit single "Sophietje". He also recorded with The Jumping Jewels and had a few hit songs including "Wheels"", "Africa" and " Irish Washerwoman". Willy Alberti
Willy Alberti (born Carel Verbrugge; 14 October 1926 – 18 February 1985) was a Dutch singer, who sang in Dutch and Italian. He was also an actor and a radio and TV personality. Alberti was born in Amsterdam as the third of eight children to Jacobus Wilhelm Verbrugge and Sophia Jacoba van Musscher. He sang with family members at a very young age. He began recording professionally in the early 1940s. In 1944 he married Ria Kuiper and his daughter Willeke Alberti, later to become a successful Dutch vocalist herself, was born in 1945. After the war Alberti established himself in the Netherlands with Italian songs; he became increasingly popular in the 1950s, when he had a string of hits beginning with '' Nel blu dipinto di blu'' in 1958. In the 1960s he began to act alongside his daughter Willeke; as a duo, they also scored hits on the Dutch charts. Thérèse Steinmetz (born 17 May 1933) is a Dutch singer, best known for her participation in the 1967 Eurovision Song Contest. Early career Steinmetz studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and appeared in various theatre, television and film roles before being give her own TV series, ''Thérèse'', in 1966 Eurovision Song Contest In 1967, Steinmetz sang all six songs in the Dutch Eurovision selection, with "Ring-dinge-ding" being chosen by postcard voting as the winner. Steinmetz went forward to the 12th Eurovision Song Contest, held in Vienna on 8 April, where "Ring-dinge-ding" ended the evening in 14th place of 17 entries, continuing a run of poor Dutch results dating back to 1960. Later career In 1970, Steinmetz won the Golden Stag Festival in Braşov, Romania, beating another former Eurovision singer, Lize Marke, into second place.
