Germany National Bandy Team
Germany national bandy team (german: Deutsche Bandynationalmannschaft der Herren) is a bandy team competing for Germany in the international bandy and rink bandy tournaments. The German Empire national bandy team participated the 1913 European Bandy Championships in Davos. After a long time with no organised bandy in Germany, the German Bandy Federation (Deutscher Bandy-Bund) was established in June 2013 and the new national bandy team was formed in September 2013. In January 2014 the German team participated in the four nation bandy tournament in Davos, Switzerland, a centenary celebration of the 1913 European Championship. The other teams were Netherlands, Hungary, and Czech Republic. Germany made its debut in the World Championship in Irkutsk 2014. Before that they played a friendly match against the team of Obukhovo 19-20 September 2015 the team took part in a rink bandy tournament in Nymburk. The team also participated at the 2016 Davos Cup. Deutscher Bandy-Bund
German Bandy Federation (German: ''Deutscher Bandy-Bund'') is the governing body for the sport of bandy in Germany. German Bandy Association was founded and became member of the Federation of International Bandy in 2013. An earlier German bandy federation had been a member of FIB for just over a year in 1990-1991. A national rink bandy championship has been played every year since the winter of 2014/15. Germany managed to qualify for the A Division of the 2017 Bandy World Championship and was able to defend this position so the Germany national bandy team will be playing in the A Division in 2018 too. The four nation bandy tournament in 2014 was held as a centenary celebration of the 1913 European Bandy Championships. On 6 January 2014 the Federation of International Bandy together with the Federation of Swiss Bandy arranged a four nation tournament in Davos to celebrate the anniversary of the 1913 European Championship. 2016 Bandy World Championship
Bandy World Championship 2016, the XXXVI Bandy World Championship, was held with Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia, as host region. Most of the games was played at the Volga-Sport-Arena in Ulyanovsk. Because of its higher spectator capacity, the group stage matches between Russia and Sweden and between Russia and Kazakhstan were played at Trud Stadium, which also hosted one semi-final and the final. Some games were played in nearby Dimitrovgrad at Stadium Stroitel. The Division A tournament was played from 1 February until 7 February 2016, while the Division B tournament took place afterwards, on 10–14 February. Czech Republic made its debut, while Canada and Ukraine were set to return, thus reaching an all-time high of nineteen participating teams. The Davos Cup was a bandy tournament held in 2016 for national teams from continental Europe. History In January 2016 the Federation of International Bandy together with the Federation of Swiss Bandy arranged a tournament in Davos. Due to recent weather conditions and in line with what had been done at the 1913 European Bandy Championships, the games were not played with modern 11 man teams but on a smaller bandy field with 7 men on each team and without corners. Obukhovo (russian: Обу́хово) is an urban locality (a work settlement) in Noginsky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia, located east from Moscow.
