The Germanasca (also in Piedmontese ''Germanasca'') is a Italian torrent, which runs through the Metropolitan City of Turin. It is a tributary of the Chisone, into which it flows near Perosa Argentina. The valley formed by the river is known as Val Germanasca. Geography The stream is formed from ''Lago Verde'', a small Alpine lake in the Cottian Alps, and initially runs northwards, before reaching the ''comune'' of Salza di Pinerolo and turning east. It then receives the waters of the ''Germanasca di Salza'' and ''Germanasca di Massello'' increasing a lot its average discharge. Val Germanasca
The Valle Germanasca is a valley in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, north-western Italy run by the Germanasca stream, a right affluent of the Chisone. The valley, in the past affected by a strong depopulation, is now partially characterized by a tourist vocation, in particular for its landscape beauties. The main resort is Ghigo, a ''frazione'' of the comune of Prali, famous for its ski resort. Also visited are the Talc mines of the valley, which are of its resources and are still active. Valle Germanasca is one of the Piedmontese valleys in which the majority of the population belongs to the Waldensian Evangelical Church. Chisone
The Chisone (in Piedmontese ''Chison'' or ''Cleson'') is a Italian torrent, which runs through Pragelato, Fenestrelle, Perosa Argentina and Pinerolo in the Metropolitan City of Turin. It is a tributary of the Pellice, which in turn is a tributary of the river Po. Although classified as a torrent, there is no period of the year at which the Chisone runs dry. Geography The stream is formed at the foot of Monte Barifreddo in the Cottian Alps and initially runs north-northwest through the Parco Naturale della Val Troncea. The course then follows a semi-circular path through the Val Chisone passing to the east, the north and then to the west of Monte Albergian. Near Perosa Argentina it receives the waters of the Germanasca, its main tributary. The Chisone enters the Pellice some to the east of Pinerolo, the most important of the settlements on its course.
