German Futsal League System
The German futsal league system, or league pyramid, refers to the hierarchically interconnected league system for Futsal in Germany that in the 2017–18 Season (sports), season consists of the DFB Futsal Cup and 35 Division (sport), divisions, in which all divisions are bound together by the principle of promotion and relegation. Teams that finish at the top of their division at the end of each season can rise higher in the pyramid, while those that finish at the bottom find themselves sinking further down. In theory, it is possible for even the lowest local club to rise to the top of the system and become List of German futsal champions, German futsal champions one day. The number of teams promoted and relegated between the divisions varies, and promotion to the upper levels of the pyramid is usually contingent on meeting additional criteria, especially concerning appropriate facilities and finances. The Futsal-Bayernliga (English: Bavarian Futsal League) is the highest futsal league in the state of Bavaria (german: Bayern) and the second tier of futsal under the Futsal-Regionalliga Süd and above the Futsal-Bezirksliga in the German futsal league system. The Futsal-Regionalliga Süd is the highest german futsal league. It consists of 10 teams and was introduced in the 2015-16 season with seven teams. The winner of each Futsal-Regionalliga takes part in the Deutsche Futsal-Meisterschaft to determine the German champion at the end of the season. The second-placed team has the chance to qualify for the Deutsche Futsal-Meisterschaft through a playoff round. The bottom teams of the Regionalliga are relegated directly or compete in a relegation playoff round.
