Geraldine is a town in DeKalb County, Alabama, United States. It was incorporated in February 1957.James P. Kaetz,Geraldine" ''Encyclopedia of Alabama'', 2013. At the 2020 census, the population was 910. Mayors Raymond Upton served from 1956-1960, L.M. Bailey served from 1960-1964, C.C. Alabama State Route 227
State Route 227 (SR 227) is a route that serves as a connection between the Etowah–DeKalb county line south of Crossville with U.S. Route 431 (US 431) at Guntersville in Marshall County. Route description The southern terminus of SR 227 is located at the Etowah–DeKalb county line to the southwest of Hendrixville. From Hendrixville, the route travels in a northwesterly direction en route to Crossville. From Crossville, it travels in a northerly direction to Geraldine where it again resumes its northwesterly track. Upon entering Marshall County, it takes a more westerly route before turning towards the south en route to its northern terminus at US 431 in downtown Guntersville. Spiral Starecase
The Spiral Starecase was an American pop band, best known for its 1969 single " More Today Than Yesterday". The band, from Sacramento, California, United States, was recognizable for its horns and lead singer/guitarist Pat Upton's voice. The group also included Harvey Kaye (organ), Dick Lopes (saxophone), Bobby Raymond (bass guitar), Gene Austin (bass guitar), Vinny Parello (drums), Mark Barrett (drums) and Al Sebay (electric guitar). Starting as the Fydallions, they released that song, one album, and a few more singles including "No One for Me to Turn To" after signing with Columbia. The band had hits with "More Today Than Yesterday", released in January 1969, and the follow-up "She's Ready". Pat Upton (singer)
Pat Upton (August 5, 1940 – July 27, 2016) was an American singer, songwriter and guitarist with the band Spiral Starecase. He was the songwriter of, and lead vocalist on, their 1969 gold-selling single " More Today Than Yesterday", which peaked at #12 on the ''Billboard Hot 100''. The song has been covered by Sonny & Cher, Diana Ross, Andy Williams, Lena Horne, Patti Austin, and Goldfinger. After Spiral Starecase disbanded in 1971, Upton relocated to Los Angeles, where he worked as a session musician and then a band member for Ricky Nelson. Upton was noted as having an exceptionally high voice for a man. On December 30, 1985, after a performance at Upton's Guntersville, Alabama club PJ's Alley, Nelson asked Upton to accompany him on a flight to Dallas, Texas, but Upton declined due to business obligations. Damon Johnson
Damon Rogers Johnson (born July 13, 1964) is an American guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, currently a solo artist and member of Thin Lizzy. In the 1990s he co-founded Brother Cane, and later joined Alice Cooper's band as lead guitarist. He was also the lead guitarist and co-songwriter for hard rock group Black Star Riders from 2012 to 2018.
