Gerald Giam
Gerald Giam Yean Song ( zh, s=严燕松, p=Yán Yànsōng; born 1977) is a Singaporean politician. A member of the opposition Workers' Party (Singapore), Workers' Party (WP), he has been the 14th Parliament of Singapore, Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Bedok Reservoir–Punggol division of Aljunied Group Representation Constituency, Aljunied GRC since 2020. Education Giam Was educated at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and Anglo-Chinese Junior College. He holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California and a Master of Science in international political economy from Nanyang Technological University. Career Giam has worked in various roles in the information technology industry, including as a senior consultant at Avanade and a project manager at MSC Consulting. 2011 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 7 May 2011. President S. R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 19 April 2011 on the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Voting is mandatory in Singapore and is based on the first-past-the-post system. Elections are conducted by the Elections Department, which is under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister's Office. Nomination day was held on 27 April 2011, and for the second election in a row, the PAP did not return to government on nomination day, but it did return to government on polling day.
