The Georgian Basketball Super League ( ka, საკალათბურთო სუპერლიგა, Sakalatburto Superliga), also known as the Georgian Top League, is the highest professional basketball league in Georgia (country), Georgia. The first season was played in 1991, and was won by BC Dinamo Tbilisi, Dinamo Tbilisi. The 1990s were dominated by BC Vita Tbilisi, who won the title a record 7 times. BC Batumi, and then Energy Invest Rustavi, dominated the following decade. 2018–19 Georgian Superliga
The 2018–19 Georgian Superliga was the 19th season of the Georgian Superliga since its establishment. Dinamo Tbilisi were the defending champions. Format Regular season consisted in a double-legged round-robin competition where the eight best teams qualified for the playoffs. Teams The league was expanded to ten teams. Two clubs have been promoted from A-league, TSU Tbilisi as champion and MIA Academy Titebi as runner-up, and after winning a promotion/relegation playoff against Sokhumi. 2017–18 Georgian Superliga
The 2017–18 Georgian Superliga is the 18th season of the Georgian Superliga since its establishment. Dinamo Tbilisi retained the title. Teams Delta joined the competition, expanding it to nine teams as no team was relegated from the previous season. Regular season Playoffs Quarterfinals were played in a best-of-three games format, while semifinals and final in a best-of-five (2-2-1) format. Relegation playoffs Titebi played legs 2 and 3 at home and promoted to Superliga. The 2016–17 Georgian Superliga was the 17th season of the Georgian Superliga since its establishment. Kutaisi were the defending champions, but could not retain the title after losing to Dinamo in the finals. BC TSU Tbilisi
BC TSU is a professional basketball club based in Tbilisi, Georgia. It is affiliated with the Tbilisi State University. History T.S.U. was one of the 11 founding members of the Georgian basketball league in 1991. Their best seasons in the league were 2009-10 and 2010-11, when they reached the playoff finals, losing both of them 1–3 against Energy Invest Rustavi and BC Armia respectively. BC Titebi Tbilisi ( ka, საკალათბურთო კლუბი ტიტები) is the Georgian professional basketball club, that is based in Tbilisi, Georgia. The club competes in the Georgian basketball Super Liga. History The club was established by the Georgian basketball players and Georgia national basketball team members Giorgi Gamqrelidze and Besik Lezhava in 2016. In 2018, the club was promoted to the Superliga after beating Sokhumi in the promotion/relegation playoffs. In 2019, Titebi won the Georgian Cup after beating Mgzavrebi in the Finals 95-85, becoming the first team in Georgian basketball history to achieve this feat in their first season in the top flight of Georgian Basketball.
