Georgian Bay River Rats
The Nottawasaga River Rats were a senior hockey team based out of CFB Borden. They played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. Championships Nottawasaga has won one WOAA Championship, when they were known as Georgian Bay, when they were Senior "A" champions in 2004. 2006-07 River Rats Season This season would prove to be disastrous for the River Rats, as they finished the regular season with a 0-24-0 record, last place in the 18 team WOAA. Georgian Bay did have a victory in mid-December, a 4-3 win over the Durham Thundercats, however they were stripped of the win due to playing with illegal players. Borden, Ontario
Canadian Forces Base Borden (also CFB Borden, French: Base des Forces canadiennes Borden or BFC Borden), formerly RCAF Station Borden, is a large Canadian Forces base located in Ontario. The historic birthplace of the Royal Canadian Air Force, CFB Borden is home to the largest training wing in the Canadian Armed Forces. Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League
The WOAA Senior AA Hockey League is a Canadian senior ice hockey league governed by the Western Ontario Athletic Association. The league operates in Southwestern Ontario. History Format The league uses Hockey Canada playing rules but is not operated under the jurisdictions of the Ontario Hockey Association or Hockey Canada. The league is based in the Georgian Triangle and Southwestern Ontario. The league has been in existence since 1943, one year after the WOAA itself was established, and has entertained large crowds with local former Junior Hockey players and the odd former professional player. The league is rather large and features teams of both Senior "AA" and Senior "A" calibre. It is generally accepted that none of these teams could financially compete with the Senior "AAA" teams that compete for the Allan Cup. Durham Thundercats
The Durham Thundercats, originally the Durham 72's, are a senior hockey team based out of Durham, Ontario, Canada. The Thundercats date back to the town's Centennial, 1972, and have been an extremely successful team in all loops of the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior "AA" Hockey League. The 72's During the 1972 Centennial celebration in Durham, locals decided a second Men's hockey club could succeed and thus put into place the formation of the current Durham Thundercats. Working alongside but playing out of different leagues as the towns established team, the Huskies, the town applied to and was accepted to enter the Western Ontario Athletic Association's Northern league. The organization of this second team allowed many talented local players a place to play competitive Senior Hockey, and would lay the foundation for 40 years of Championship calibre teams. Drayton Icemen
The Drayton Icemen were a senior hockey team based out of Drayton, Ontario, Canada. They played six seasons in the WOAA Senior Hockey League. The Comets Drayton previously had a WOAA Sr. Hockey Team, the Drayton Comets, who folded after the 1997-98 season. The Comets were Intermediate "C" Champions on two occasions, in 1989-90 and 1990–91, however they were unable to capture the WOAA Grand Championship. 2005-06 Icemen Season WOAA Sr. Hockey came back to Drayton for the 2005-06 season, as they were awarded an expansion team, which was named the Icemen. In 25 games, the Icemen finished in last place in the 18 team league, with a 1-24-0 record. They scored 60 goals, and allowed 223. The Shallow Lake Crushers are a senior hockey team based out of Shallow Lake, Ontario, Canada. Their inaugural season started in October 2007. History 2007-08 Crushers Season The Crushers would play their first ever game at home, losing to the Ripley Wolves by a score of 11-1. Shallow Lake would continue to struggle, as they would lose their first twelve games, being outscored 103-30 in the process, before defeating the Georgian Bay River Rats by a score of 6-1 in their thirteenth game and earn their first ever victory. Shallow Lake would play better hockey as the season went on, highlighted by a 6-4 win on the road over the Ripley Wolves. Milverton Four Wheel Drives
The Milverton Four Wheel Drives are a senior hockey team based in Milverton, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. History From 1974 until 1976, the Four Wheel Drives left the WOAA and played in the Ontario Hockey Association's Intermediate C Hockey League. They returned soon after. Championships The Four Wheel Drives were a highly successful team in the 1970s, as they won the WOAA Grand Championship three years in a row, from 1971 to 1973.
