Georgia At The 2008 Summer Olympics
Georgia competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, People's Republic of China. This is a list of the results of all of the athletes who qualified for the Olympics and were nominated by Georgian National Olympic Committee. Georgia was represented in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games by 35 sportsmen and sportswomen in total of 11 different sporting events. The Games had a dramatic start for Georgia, as well as for Russia, due to the onset of the 2008 South Ossetia war at the very start of the Games. Georgian athletes won three gold, two silver, and three bronze medals during the games. Medalists Archery Georgia sent archers to the Olympics for the fourth time, seeking its first Olympic medal in the sport. Khatuna Narimanidze and Kristine Esebua (both veterans of the 2004 Olympics) earned the nation two spots in the women's competition by placing 5th and 30th in the women's individual competition at the 2007 Outdoor World Target Championships. Wrestling At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's Freestyle 84 Kg
Men's freestyle 84 kilograms competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, took place on 21 August at the China Agricultural University Gymnasium. This freestyle wrestling competition consists of a single-elimination tournament, with a repechage used to determine the winner of two bronze medals. The two finalists face off for gold and silver medals. Each wrestler who loses to one of the two finalists moves into the repechage, culminating in a pair of bronze medal matches featuring the semifinal losers each facing the remaining repechage opponent from their half of the bracket. Each bout consists of up to three rounds, lasting two minutes apiece. The wrestler who scores more points in each round is the winner of that rounds; the bout ends when one wrestler has won two rounds (and thus the match). She competes in archery. 2004 Summer Olympics Narimanidze represented Georgia at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She placed 41st in the women's individual ranking round with a 72-arrow score of 620. In the first round of elimination, she faced 24th-ranked Almudena Gallardo of Spain. The Women's 10 metre air pistol event at the 2008 Olympic Games took place on August 10 at the Beijing Shooting Range Hall. Nino Salukvadze ( ka, ნინო სალუქვაძე; born 1 February 1969, in Tbilisi) is a female Georgian sport shooter. She is a nine-time Olympian and has won medals on three occasions. At age 19 and competing for the Soviet Union at the 1988 Summer Olympics, she won a gold medal in the women's 25-metre sporting pistol competition and silver in the women's 10-metre air pistol competition. Weightlifting At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's 94 Kg
The men's 94 kg weightlifting event was the sixth men's event at the weightlifting competition, limiting competitors to a maximum of 94 kilograms of body mass. Weightlifting competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China were held from August 9 to August 19. Competitions were conducted at the Beihang University Gymnasium. The medal records at the 2008 Games were heavily amended following re-analysis of competitors samples in 2015, 2016 and 2017. 26 lifters were disqualified as a result of these tests, including 16 medalists and four lifters who stood to inherit forfeited medals.
