State Route 78 (SR 78) is a backward question mark-shaped State highway (US), state highway in the Southeast Georgia, southeast part of the U.S. state of Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia. The highway travels from Soperton, Georgia, Soperton north and northwest to Wrightsville, Georgia, Wrightsville, then turning northeast to Wadley, Georgia, Wadley and, finally, east, to its eastern terminus, at a point northwest of Midville, Georgia, Midville. Route description SR 78 begins at an intersection (road), intersection with Georgia State Route 46, SR 46 in the northeast part of Soperton. Soperton is a city in Treutlen County, Georgia, United States. The population was 3,115 at the 2010 census, up from 2,824 in 2000. The city is the county seat of Treutlen County. History A post office was established at Soperton in 1902. The city was named after Benjamin Franklin Soper, a railroad official. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Soperton as a town in 1902. State Route 242 (SR 242) is a east–west state highway located in the central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It travels through portions of Washington and Jefferson counties. Route description SR 242 begins at an intersection with SR 24/ SR 540 (Fall Line Freeway) in Sandersville in Washington County. State Route 171 (SR 171) is a state highway that runs south-to-north through portions of Treutlen, Emanuel, Johnson, Jefferson, Glascock, and Warren counties in the east-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. State Route 86 (SR 86) is a state highway that travels mostly through rural areas of the central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. The highway travels from a point southeast of East Dublin southeast to a point about halfway between Lyons and Reidsville, via Oak Park. Interstate 16 (I-16), also known as Jim Gillis Historic Savannah Parkway, is an east–west Interstate Highway located entirely within the US state of Georgia. It carries the hidden designation of State Route 404 (SR 404) for its entire length. I-16 travels from downtown Macon, at an interchange with I-75 and SR 540 to downtown Savannah at Montgomery Street (exit 167B).
