State Route 75 (SR 75) is a state highway that travels south-to-north through portions of White and Towns counties in the northern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It connects Cleveland and the North Carolina state line, via Helen, Macedonia, and Hiawassee. Route description SR 75 begins at an intersection with US 129/ SR 11 (North Main Street) in Cleveland in White County. This intersection also marks the southern terminus of SR 75 Alternate, which runs concurrent with US 129/SR 11 to the northwest. SR 75 heads north-northeast, past White County Park, to an intersection with the northern terminus of SR 384. About later, the road crosses over the Chattahoochee River. Chatuge Lake
Lake Chatuge is a man-made reservoir in Towns County, Georgia, and Clay County, North Carolina. It lies along the Hiwassee River created by the Chatuge Dam which finished construction in 1942. State Route 288 (SR 288) is a northwest-southeast state highway located in the northeast part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Its route is entirely within Towns County. Route description SR 288 begins at an intersection with US 76/ SR 2/ SR 17 west of Hiawassee. The route runs southeast, then northeast, then southeast again, before turning east to meet its eastern terminus, an intersection with US 76/SR 2/SR 17/ SR 75 southeast of Hiawassee. Hiawassee River
The Hiwassee River has its headwaters on the north slope of Rocky Mountain in Towns County in the northern area of the State of Georgia. It flows northward into North Carolina before turning westward into Tennessee, flowing into the Tennessee River a few miles west of what is now State Route 58 in Meigs County, Tennessee. Hydrography The river is dammed by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in four locations, all in Western North Carolina: Chatuge Dam, Mission Dam (not owned by TVA), Hiwassee Dam, and Apalachia Dam.
