State Route 324 (SR 324) is a west-to-east state highway located in portions of Gwinnett and Barrow counties in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It connects Buford and Auburn. It also has an interchange with Interstate 85 (I-85). Before it was renamed, Carl Bethlehem Road was once part of SR 324. Route description SR 324 begins at an intersection with SR 20 (Buford Drive NE) in the southeast part of Buford, in Gwinnett County. The route travels to the east-southeast and crosses over Ivy Creek. It curves to the southeast and has an interchange with, Interstate 85 (I-85). Buford, Georgia
Buford is a city in Gwinnett and Hall counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 17,144. Most of the city is in Gwinnett County, which is part of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta Metropolitan Statistical Area. The northern sliver of the city is in Hall County, which comprises the Gainesville, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area and is part of the larger Atlanta- Athens-Clarke-Sandy Springs Combined Statistical Area. The city was founded in 1872 after a railroad was built in the area connecting Charlotte, North Carolina, with Atlanta. Bethlehem, Georgia
Bethlehem is a town in Barrow County in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 715. The major employer in town is Harrison Poultry, which is the largest non-government employer in Barrow County. The town was named after a local church, Bethlehem Methodist Church, and has a strong Christmas theme, with many of the street names being references to the nativity of Jesus, such as Mary, Joseph, and Manger. State Route 81 (SR 81) is a diagonal state highway that travels southwest-to-northeast in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Its path exists within portions of Henry, Newton, Walton, and Barrow counties. It connects the McDonough area with Winder, via Covington and Loganville. Concurrency (road)
A concurrency in a road network is an instance of one physical roadway bearing two or more different route numbers. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. Other terminology for a concurrency includes overlap, coincidence, duplex (two concurrent routes), triplex (three concurrent routes), multiplex (any number of concurrent routes), dual routing or triple routing. Concurrent numbering can become very common in jurisdictions that allow it. Where multiple routes must pass between a single mountain crossing or over a bridge, or through a major city, it is often economically and practically advantageous for them all to be accommodated on a single physical roadway.
